Class of 2018 Westtown School (Pa.) and PSA Cardinals forward Jake Forrester recently announced his list of eight finalists and Indiana made the cut.

Joining the Hoosiers in Forrester’s final eight: Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, VCU, Virginia Tech and Xavier.

The 6-foot-8 forward is a three-star prospect according to the 247Composite and the No. 156 player in the country. Forrester is expected to take an official visit to Bloomington next month.

We’ve compiled more than two minutes of video of Forrester from this year’s Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) circuit, which is available below:

    I like his hair.

Strong finisher around the rim. But I’m curious to see if he has a post game at all. What we really need is another big body who can bang down low.

Agree on our needing another big body. It seems there’s been so many times when 2 good Big Ten teams battle it out towards the end of the year, the score is 65 to 64 with 18 seconds to go and the 6’9″ 240 guy backs it down for 2 or a foul. Its a proven weapon when the opposing defense stiffens up and scoring suddenly becomes really difficult.

All the dunks! Would like to see some more of his post moves, as well. The couple of times he is playing back to the basket, he seems to have some touch from 10 feet in. No idea if he has range beyond that based on these highlights. We’re definitely seeing the Archie model start to take shape for aggressive, semiposition-less basketball.

    Meh…

  • SCHoosier

Given the dearth of bigs I can see why IU is considering him. The lad is quick and agile..but would really need to get on a body improvement program with Cliff. As long as Forester’s 6-8 height is not exaggerated by 3 inches of that hair..he’s probably worth a visit.

So basically if you leave this kid open under the basketball he will dunk it. Also he probably isn’t really 6’8″. None the less I’m sure the staff sees things we don’t see in a highlight video.

You have to have guards to dig in for those situations and other players to rotate to the shooters.

Maybe just hair or build. Has rawness to his game n reminds me of Wilson? Kid from Michigan last year that was drafted fairly high after sophomore year right???

  • iugradmark

Agree with everyone’s comments that it is hard to tell a lot from these short videos. What I do like is that he always seems to go up with both hands. That is a lost art these days.

  • Vincent Agramonte

I know these highlights didn’t show much but I like what I saw, athletic, agile, and strong finisher, and with the lack of post depth on our roster and in the class of 2018 I would be very happy to see Jake as a Hoosier.

But Wilson was 6’10 not 6’8, with a good jump shot.
