It’s been a busy 24 hours for Indiana basketball recruiting as Race Thompson committed Sunday evening, Jerome Hunter committed early Monday afternoon and Damezi Anderson joined Hunter less than two hours later.

Inside the Hall caught up with Anderson to discuss his decision to pledge to the Hoosiers and our full Q & A follows:

On why he decided it was the right time to commit to Indiana:

“I really liked the visit there and the new coaching staff. It’s really home for an Indiana kid. My family and I thought it was the best fit (for me).”

On the fit at Indiana:

“I’ve always liked Indiana going back to when I first started playing basketball. So with the new coaching staff and the new recruiting class, I thought it would be a good place for me. Jerome Hunter and I will be a good fit for each other, playing together.”

On Archie Miller and the IU coaching staff:

“They really felt like it was the best place for me. They really, really like me as a player and as a person. So I really felt like it was the best spot for me.”

On the attention and number of phone calls he’s received since the commitment:

“It’s been outrageous so far (laughs). Hopefully, I’ll be able to deal with it.”

On his game and what he needs to work on:

“I think I’m really good shooting the ball right now. I think I need to keep working on my defense.”

On the potential to recruit other in-state players like Robert Phinisee to join him in Bloomington:

“Me and him have talked already. I told him that we should go to the same school. I think it would be the best fit for both of us. I think it would be a huge deal if Indiana can get Robert.”
