Former Indiana forward Thomas Bryant, the No. 42 pick in last week’s NBA draft, was officially introduced as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers at a press conference on Thursday.

President of basketball operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka introduced Bryant, along with Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma. The full press conference is available below. Additionally, Bryant spoke with Serena Winters of LakersNation.com and that interview is also embedded below:

Thomas Bryant is a very energetic player that plays with a lot of emotion on his sleave. I still wish we could’ve had him playing down low more. And when he did I would’ve like to see him be a little more assertive, with his size, strength, and length he could’ve dominated underneath. Unfortunately for me he is a sad reminder of what last season could’ve been, what a roster full of talent we had. I think on one roster that may have been one of the most talented rosters we’ve had over the past 20 years. I sure do wish him the best of luck and hope he has a nice long career free of injuries. Best of luck to you Thomas. Go Hooooooosiers!!!!!

A new Bryant for the Lakers.

I’m very excited for Thomas because I’m a huge Lakers fan since I grew up in California. I really hope other Lakers fans give him a fair chance to develop and carve out a role within the organization instead of harshly criticizing him because his last name is Bryant, which I’ve seen a lot of.

Magic on Thomas: “Look at how beautiful his ball is.”

This is the kind of, well, magic that Thomas needed. He will be phenomenal.

Kyle Kuzma: “NBA is turning into positionless basketball.”

    LOL. Any comment?

Those young men have a right to be “excited.” Oh if there was only a pill they could take to eliminate the “you knows” from their vocabularies! A little “how to speak to the media” education is required.

I’m glad they’re not speaking to the media. How boring that would be.

This is a really great opportunity for TB. Lakers went for high character guys that can turn the locker room into something special. Ingram and Ball will be the talent, but these three guys are instant “pros”. This is a blueprint for how you can turn the culture on a dime. Ship out the problem child (Russell) and create a culture of work, character, and professionalism. Add PG13 and Lebron next year and they will challange for a championship. Add just PG13 and they are a solid playoff team.

    I’m not following your “LOL”.

It’s just funny hearing it from a star player, and to see how commercial interests dictate the style of the game. Which is fine I suppose. I never thought money is dirty.

I live in SLC and heard several interviews with Kuz during the pre-draft process. That is what his agent was selling NBA teams…Kuz’s versatility in the age of “positionless basketball”. It’s probably all the kid heard for 3 months. It’s pretty normal that it would come out of his mouth.

The upvote for the “you know” reference 🙂
