OG poisd for a big year! But I doubt he’d play the 3 extensively this year though.

  • MK

Just because he is in the game guarding the 4 or maybe filling the spot that is traditionally for the 4, doesn’t mean he isn’t a 3. It just means we don’t have a traditional Power Forward on the court.

  • inLinE6

I understand Crean likes to stretch the floor, but with likely 3-guard lineup, someone has to shoulder some boards with TB in the paint?

  • HoosierStuckInKY

Next year the title of this award will be the OG Anunoby Award!

  • MK

Right, but what does that have to do with OG not being a small-forward? He is just a rebounding small-forward, which will probably help him win the award. Yes, he will be filling a spot on the floor that is traditionally reserved for “Power-Forwards” but that doesn’t mean he isn’t considered, or doesn’t have a game that many would argue resembles more of a traditional “small-forward”

  • Yeesh, optimistic much? Those changes take at least a few years to put in place. So the 2020 version will be titled the OG Anunoby Award.

  • I’m thinking we’ll see some time with TB, DD, OG, JBJ, and RJ on the floor. And that will be a mighty difficult lineup to score against.

  • Ms hoosier

    That’s some serious height!!!

Just saw it…………..Tremont Waters to Georgetown.

  • Fifer39

Although DD still untested at this level, might that be the best rotation CTC has had in his tenure?

  • I think that by the time the B1G rolls around, it very well could be his best by a long shot.

  • Hoosier Fanatic

Yeah now we are hoping for KW and or BP.

  • Chi-Town Hoosier

If thinking optimistically, this opens the door for both which wouldn’t have been possible with Waters.

  • Hoosier Fanatic

And honestly never year we still have RJ, JN, and DG who can run point. If we land both then we could have one of the best classes in the country.

  • Hoosier Fanatic

    Correction… Next year

  • Chi-Town Hoosier

Exactly..and AD although he might be more of a combo guard..I was getting stressed just thinking about how we were going to share minutes..

I am not too shook up about it. I have a feeling DG could be a pretty good player for us.

  • Hoosier Fanatic

I agree…DG is really flying under the radar. I think people will be pleasantly surprised about what he brings.

  • Hoosier Fanatic

I would even look forward to see this lineup with JM in for DD. In fact I think that would be a great starting five with DD playing the role MB did last year backing up TB, although I would like see them both on the floor together some as well.

  • Oh, sure, I don’t mean to leave out any of the backups. In fact, I think we’ll be amazed at the very idea that JM could be a backup by the time the seaon’s over. I think you could slot him in and have a nice lineup in any case. It’s just with DD’s shot blocking and rebounding, the lineup I list above will be a nightmare for opposing offenses.

  • Hoosier Fanatic

Yeah totally excited to see the defense this year. We haven’t had a shot blocking threat like this since probably George Leach.

  • Seriously. And with RJ providing lock-down perimeter defense, and JBJ benefiting with his own defense from stronger post defense… And then OG! Man, I’m excited too. 🙂

  • Hoosier Fanatic

Bring on Kansas! I don’t think they have anyone who can contain OG on either end of the floor.

  • HardRockHoosier

We may not see a three guard lineup as much as you are thinking, this year. With Bryant, Anunoby, Morgan, McSwain and Davis, we have a lot of viable options.. One could probably say as many as we have at guard. So I wouldn’t assume the 3 guard thing just yet. That would leave a lot of very good talent on the bench at times. Especially the way Crean likes the guys to be kind of position-less anyway.. Plus, what if Hartman does get back this year.. Even more reason why we might need and want the size of a bigger lineup.

  • HardRockHoosier

Did you listen to the Podcast.. The part about Crispin saying OG has or may have, not sure right now how he phrased it… But that OG has the best NBA body he has ‘ever’ seen at the college level… Now that is some ‘High’ compliments.

  • HardRockHoosier

Hey how would you like to see a lineup with RJ or JBJ and JM at guard, OG and DD at forward and Bryant? Now that would be some big lineup.. Could be feasible sometime depending on the situation…lol…

  • Hoosier Fanatic

Yes! After watching the practice last Saturday, I believe that we can realistically start to expect that OG has made ” the jump” that we hoped to see this year. This team seems to all get along great and could make some serious noise this year. By the time it is all said and done we could look at last year’s team as a stepping stone in a sense that defense is now a focus. It could be a very exciting year!

  • HuntinHoosier86

    REALLY hoping for KW

  • Chappy Dan

I think Crispin was heavily swayed by OG’s short shorts…
