Coach is getting really good kids. Creates a nice compounding effect; good kids want to play with good kids.

If all are healthy, we should have a helluva backcourt this year.

I have a feeling Devonte is going to be a major impact player before his time is over at IU.

  • plane1972

Like this kid. Enthusiasm, confidence and “24-7” perspective.

  • BruceA

I have a feeling the IU fans are going to love you, too, Devonte. Like this kid.

  • TomJameson

Talented, humble, good character, hard working … Keep them coming coach, keep them coming.

  • sarge

CTC is really doing a hell of a job. Love the recruiting and the product on the floor.

  • ForeverIU

Love the character and that New York grit.

  • inLinE6

He seemed to be more athletic than I realized. His ranking is deceptive.

  • Tcuomo

I was thinking the exact same thing. I know its a highlight reel and Long Island isn’t exactly known for basketball talent. I think a lot of us just thought we were getting a shooter, but his defense stood out to me the most. CTC could really develop him into a special player.

  • just a fan

What a find, an extremely articulate kid with a leaping/ timing ability that reminds you of Victor. Those shot blocks (with the immediate transition), wow. CTC may have found the sleeper in the freshman class of 2016.

  • Fivelefts

Love this kid already! Welcome Devonte!

  • TomJameson

That’s why I’m really glad CTC doesn’t ignore the “lower” ranked players. He does an absolutely great job finding good players that fit his system, and develops them as to their needs. Sure he misses once in a while, but overall I am extremely happy with CTCs recruiting.

I’m a fan of the way his older brother plays and the way his game has grown over the years and I was excited when I read about the commitment and the kind of player Devonte is. I have no clue how much he’ll play as a freshman but I won’t be the least bit surprised if he is able to adequately fill a role in 2016-2017. I think he’ll be competing with Curtis Jones for the role of fourth guard and, if nothing else, he’ll be able to provide spot minutes when someone like Johnson or Newkirk or Blackmon gets a breather (think of the role Niego had last season…perhaps that’s the floor for Green as a freshman). Best of luck to him throughout his career and I’m glad he’s a Hoosier.

Competition among our guards in practice is going to be incredibly intense. Big change from last year. Will make them all better.

  • Zach

The kid has a ton more athleticism than I expected. Really think he can develop into a heck of a four year player for us. It’s going to be a dogfight for minutes at the guard spots this year between JBJ, RJ, CuJo, JN, and DG. The competition will be great for everyone.

  • bleeding crimson

Wow, what a kid with a head on his shoulders. He speaks well of fellow team mates, coach and the game overall. You can already tell he has a great work ethic (gym rat) and CTC continues to impress me with these kids he finds under the radar. What a great get. He could be starting by his soph year. Not only is our guard depth is getting better but our overall size at every position. We are truly loaded at almost every position. Should be a special year.

  • IUBizmark

Impressive, multifaceted kid. Glad we won’t be squaring off against him next season!
