Nice podcast Jerod & Alex … as usual. Thanks!

I thought it was interesting that Eamonn had such a “reserved” outlook for IU because of a multiple of things, although I can certainly understand his reservations based on the defense.

I just don’t think IU will regress in any category, especially offense and rebounding. In my mind the only legitimate question is the defense.

I do agree that there isn’t a big difference between between the top few teams. You can easily make a case for Maryland, North Carolina or Kentucky to be #1. Then you have teams like Wichita State, Oklahoma, Kansas etc who may not be considered for the #1 spot but can absolutely compete for it. It could be a good season. Better than 2 years ago as a whole in CBB. The talent seems to be deeper around the country. And from coast to coast. From Cal, UCLA, Zona and Gonzaga in the West. Oklahoma, Wichita State and Kansas in the plains. Indiana, MSU and Kentucky in the Mid West. Virginia, Duke and North Carolina in the East. Rising teams like Auburn and LSU in the south. Big time freshman like Ben Simmons and Skal for UK. Big Time Sophomores like Melo and JBJ. Juniors like Troy and Wayne Selden. Seniors like Yogi, Van Vleet/Baker, Poythress and Wiltjer. Should be a good year.

loved that opening piece about bailey, definitely brought back some memories. EB talked about watching that game on tv, but i wouldn’t be surprised if over half of us were actually there. anyway, i went to bnl and graduated a year after DB. i remember standing in line for an hour each year waiting to get season tickets. every single game was a huge event. and i gotta say, one of the most amazing things about DB was he never let it go to his head. he remained a good ole country boy, as surprised as anybody at the phenomenon he’d become. that, and you shoulda seen him play softball. holy crap!

i see where his uncertainty is coming from, but he does seem to think they have an extremely high ceiling. it all comes down to defense, and i don’t even think it has to be extraordinary. not with the offensive firepower we’re going to have

I had two college roommates at USI who would have been a year ahead of you at BNL then.

  • WhatsUpKnight2.0

oh cool, they may even know me. ask em if they remember the guy who dated all the hottest cheerleaders

  • Jim

Excellent listen. To the guy who asked eamonn how turgeon turned it around , i know some of their fans and apparently the guys who left the program were cancerous and partied all the time, didnt take basketball seriously. I think they made coaching staff changes too so the entire program culture changed over the summer. Now all of their players are higher character guys. Seems like they had some problems that Crean continues to have as of recent

  • VAHoosier

I was there. Yes, great game.

  • ArghSonOfOhCrap

    Wait a second… I went to IU

  • WhatsUpKnight2.0

you go to bnl too? that what you meant to say?

  • ArghSonOfOhCrap

No I did not go to BNL High School I was just goofing. More like I was the guy that dated all the hot cheerleaders and referring to myself. The joke however failed:(
