Former Indiana forward Christian Watford isn’t giving up on his dream to play in the NBA.

The Indiana Pacers announced on Monday afternoon that Watford is one of 14 players who will be playing for the organization in July’s NBA summer league in Orlando.

Watford will wear No. 17 and according to IUHoosiers.com, could also play for the Sacramento Kings in the Vegas summer league.

The Orlando summer league runs from July 4-10 and will be televised by NBA TV.

The 6-foot-9 forward spent last season with the Maine Red Claws and the Reno Bighorns in the NBA Development League. He averaged 10.6 points and 5.7 rebounds over 33 games.

Prior to last season, Watford signed a non-guaranteed deal with the Boston Celtics, but was waived on October 21.

He spent his first professional season in Israel playing for Hapoel Eilat in the Israel Winner League, where he averaged 9.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in 37 games.

I really hope for the best for Watford. He is/was one of my favorite players, and I think he has value to bring to the NBA. Not a super-star, but a role player with heart and a great work ethic. Those are things that even the best teams need on their rosters.

Good luck to CWat. His defense might be a liability in the pro game but he can definitely shoot it.
