Indiana held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday afternoon for the Assembly Hall renovations that are underway with a planned completion date of the fall of 2016.

Among the speakers were university president Michael McRobbie, Cindy Simon Skjodt, athletics director Fred Glass, Tom Crean, John Laskowski, Tyra Buss and Robert Johnson.

Although I think the money would have been better spent on a newer, larger facility, I am very thankful for those who have donated and continue to donate towards making Indiana great. I have seen some magical moments throughout the years at Assembly Hall and look forward to our team next year with great anticipation. On a side note, the plants on either side of the podium reminded me of an episode of between two ferns.

Fred Glass (4:54): South entrance will include some statuary of some of IU’s icons. Assembly Hall could be housing an RMK statue in the near future whether he wants one or not.
