Adidas on Thursday morning announced its 2015 Heritage uniforms, which Indiana will wear during the 2015 Big Ten Tournament in Chicago.

The Hoosiers will have both cream and crimson alternate jerseys, and the shorts will feature five stars on the waistband — representing the Hoosiers’ five national championships.

“We are pleased to once again work with our apparel partner adidas to have a special uniform for the Big Ten Tournament,” IU vice president and Director of Athletics Fred Glass said, via a release. “We hope our fans particularly enjoy the throwback cream option as well as the five stars on the back of the trunks representing our five national championships.”

Fans will be allowed to purchase the alternate jerseys as early as Monday, March 2, via or via the IU bookstore.

adidas and Indiana University today unveiled the Heritage uniform system for the Hoosiers basketball team to wear during the 2015 Big Ten Tournament. Designed with adidas’ most innovative and advanced apparel and footwear technology, the uniform system is designed to help athletes play at their highest levels during college basketball’s biggest moments.

The new uniforms have five stars embroidered on the short’s waistband to callout each of the school’s five National Championships. Evoking a throwback feel, the uniforms feature a cream alternate, in addition to the traditional white and victory red uniforms, for a retro look inspired by Indiana’s rich basketball heritage.

“We are pleased to once again work with our apparel partner adidas to have a special uniform for the Big Ten Tournament, said IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass. “We hope our fans particularly enjoy the throwback cream option as well as the five stars on the back of the trunks representing our five national championships.”

Jerseys were designed with the same lightweight, sweat-wicking technology used in the NBA and targeted ventilation zones on the chest, back and side to keep players cool even in the most intense moments of the game. A perforated pattern on the short maximizes comfort and breathability as the game heats up.
The Hoosiers will lace-up the latest adidas basketball footwear including new colorways of the D. Lillard 1, J. Wall 1, and D. Rose BOOST 5 signature shoes from NBA All-Stars Damian Lillard, John Wall, and Derrick Rose.

Fans can grab their team gear at and campus bookstores beginning March 2.

“Heritage” uniforms huh? Well good..maybe the new duds will l be able to play the kind of defense IU did back in the day.

  • IU1972

Sure hope that the new uniforms can help IU to pass the ball rather than dribble it to beat a zone, or flash someone into the post against a zone….or help IU to guard somebody. Anybody.

  • I like the cream a lot. I think that it should be an alternate during the regular season. I don’t like what looks to be like a pretty deep v-neck, but I am glad we avoided the two tone short treatment that other schools got.

  • deedubbadoo

Do these contain a perk for defense?

  • INUnivHoosier

Those shorts are a little long to be heritage…

  • JH Horne

Why couldn’t we just use the crimson ones that never got worn last post-season? We could wear them for our opening round loss in the B10 tourney, then maybe reuse the cream ones for our home NIT game.

  • PDXHoosier

when can we drop adidas and go with nike?

  • I think the contract ends soon. I don’t know if it is through 2016 or through 2016, but I think I read that it ends around then.

  • MillaRed

Is there any way we can attach a horn on these digs that I can blow remotely when we need a timeout? I’m trying to help over here. Perhaps a shock mechanism to ensure our guys know we are on defense?

  • inLinE6

Anybody know the details of our deal with Adidas? Seen a few schools switch to Under Armor. With our tradition and heritage, I sure hope Adidas is paying us well to stay.

  • millzy32

Please don’t go back to the ball huggers oh please no. That’s one thing I am still to this day thanking the Fab Five for doing. Long shorts are a good thing.

  • millzy32

Word is that they have a remote control in them. If an opposing player is wide open under the basket the shorts will automatically rush to that spot. Hopefully the player comes with the shorts.

  • millzy32

Hopefully never. I hate Nike. Adidas all the way:) Actually I could tolerate Nike but please no Under Armour. Thx

  • millzy32

Why is the home jersey the only one with the V Neck?

  • cpjason311

At least we only have to wear them one game

  • IU1972

Also, ‘Cream’ is not the color shown. That looks to be white. IU wore real cream unis in a recent years 1st round B1G tourney loss. Looked great, played not so great.

  • mharv2631

It would be nice if they could wear them more than one game, but I won’t be holding my breath.

  • CreanFaithful

IU settled for too many OPEN threes when they weren’t connecting. They had no problem moving the ball.

  • CreanFaithful

There is also a 3rd, cream version, I saw on facebook but obviously not pictured here…

  • N71

What’s wrong with Under Armour? They’re a US company, Maryland and Northwestern are converts, etc.

  • Whohadthelastperfctseason?

I liked last year’s uni’s for the BTT better than these “Heritage” ones. Of course, we only got to see them for one game……

  • Guyton25

I think these look great. Nothing flashy while symbolizing Indiana Basketball. The stars are a cool touch to honor our tradition too.

  • Hoosier Hall

And Notre Dame… There are actually several and UA came within a hairs breadth of signing Kevin Durant.

  • Kyl470

That’s because the guy who founded Under Armour is a Maryland grad. He wants to do for Maryland what Nike did for Oregon.

  • N71

He had to go to school somewhere, does that make Under Armour better or worse versus Adidas as a partner for IU Sports? This isn’t very scientific but Adidas is a European company who allocates its A Team resources to soccer. Under Armour is a US based up & comer. IF UA is willing to invest more dollars with IU versus Adidas, they’re a US company, they’re trending upward quickly, etc. In time one could make a case that UA would be better for IU versus Adidas. I think the harder question is Nike vs. UA, which would be better for IU.

  • millzy32

Nike still gives more $ to Ohio State than Oregon. They showed that stat during the lead up to the title game.

  • millzy32

Opinion. Just don’t like them. I happen to like the stripes the swoosh not as much and then the Under Armour whatever that is I don’t like it. Just opinion. For recruits Nike is probably best and yes I think it does matter to some recruits.

  • iuball11

It’ll never happen. The soccer program and the Yeagley’s are much too tight with Adidas to ever go with anything else. IU will always be an Adidas school

  • denglishiu

These should be our new uniforms next season. They look great. They are a good way to show our heritage while continuing to be relavent to new recruits and fans.

  • Guyton25

In the words of Ron Swanson, “I prefer quality over flash.”

  • marcusgresham

    Because they were fugly.

  • marcusgresham

I prefer quality, too, but those chrome & crimson candy-striped football helmets are beautiful.

  • concretecj

Youre an idiot throwing ball around the arc is not moving the ball, crean is nothing more than a cheerleader. Cant beat a zone and has no concept of defense, its embarrassing to watch. Im just glad we didn’t play UK this year.

  • Indiana_Banners

looool if you think men’s soccer is a power broker within our Athletics Department. Football brings in the most revenue and basketball is after that. Soccer isn’t on the chart.

  • hoosier93

Have you ever noticed the stickers on the side of the helmets coming of during games? Not very good quality lol.
