This kid may still be raw, but he definitely has two things going for him: confidence and a sweet stroke.

  • Olde Hoosier

Hah, I’, on record picking Mad Max to win this contest! 🙂

  • E Foy McNaughton

I had to laugh after when he said, “I don’t lose 3 point contents” to Sage. It won’t be long before he is a starter – maybe his junior year on.

  • NateMH

And size, this guy will be a player!

  • Ole Man

He can shoot. Takes more than that to be a player.

  • NateMH

Right, I see a nice blend of size, skill, & confidence. Really like the kids game

  • Bryce Kepner

He would’ve played major minutes last year because of his shooting. He brings more to the table than a few rotation players did last year

  • Zach

Still a work in progress but what I saw looked very promising. Excited for him to develop over time

  • SCHoosier

Way to go Max. His shot is “soft” at the rim even when he misses. A starter by the time he’s a JR. and some serious situational minutes on the court this season. Hat off to Nick also..gets disssed on his board..but he can shoot.

  • Ole Man

He would have played some last year; but, he doesn’t yet have the B1G body, his defense needs to grow (he will foul a lot early on), and he’s learning to move from being an outside man to an inside player.

  • Outoftheloop

So was I! Max is 2 for 2 in shooting contests versus great competition! But Coach should have let Tim “Swish” Priller join the contest! He might be the only Hoosier who hits the Three better than Max!

  • Outoftheloop

No! Size 6’8 and a great 3 point shot makes you a player! Then hard work and a great attitude makes you a “great player”!

  • Outoftheloop

Verdell is a top 10 for scoring at IU and NEVER had a B1G body or good defense. Appreciate what the kid can do NOW!

  • Ole Man

    Disagree, loop.
He’s working hard, but he has a ways to go to be a consistent contributor for the Hoosiers in the B1G.
Priller is taller and also has the 3 pointer. By your criteria, he’s also a player.

  • Joe Pop

Just based on what Ive seen Max looks much closer to contributing than Priller, shooting is by far the most important skill in basketball and Max has that

  • Ole Man
