What a great humble kid. Sounds a lot like a young Victor.

  • Ole Man

    “Back in the day..” LOL!

  • Oldfan

Looks like he has really broad shoulders.

  • VAHoosier

Yeah, and “a couple championships…” Try 5. But hey, he wasn’t even born the last time we won it, so we can cut him some slack. 🙂

  • MillaRed

    I’m impressed. Seems solid.

  • Miamihoosier

This kid is going to be special.

  • 323SGrant

    Seems like a good dude.

  • ForeverIU

Seems like a quick study, has that itch for greatness.

  • notfargj

    He has terrific poise.

  • What I REALLY liked was first, he is very comfortable and expresses himself well.. Next, I really like the fact that apparently he gets along very well already with the rest of his teammates.. He expressed that a number of times, I would say he likes it. I agree with the postulate, this kid is going to be something special.

  • marcusgresham

Off the subject, but when did tickets go on sale and why is it I can only find them on places like Stubhub instead of the IU site like tickets for every other sport?

  • Kelin Blab

One difference in this years team and last years already I see is…..CULTURE. I think Holt will have a big impact this year…..larger than we expect.

  • notfargj

Agreed. It’s very encouraging to hear him say he’s getting along with his teammates.

  • SCHoosier

Don’t think there will be any character or academic issues with Mr. Holt. Looks like a great fit for IU in all aspects of the game. Impressive the way Holt, his family and the coaches handled the late commit and all the issues that came with it.

  • SCHoosier

I hope that statement helps the “but we’re Indiana” crowd to realistically understand where the Hoosiers stand in today’s recruiting world. TC and staff work for everything and everybody they get.

  • walton

Very positive pick up here. This year’s team is going to look completely different from last years. Not sure how its going to turn out, but the talent has me excited to watch!

  • Whohadthelastperfctseason?

I had the same thought. To me he sounds a lot like VO when he was in his first year. Even uses some of the same language: “……these are my brothers….”

  • This interview confirmed my positive vibe from this kid and reassured my optimism for the season. Play hard, rebound, easy put backs, play solid D kid that’s all we need.

  • Once upon a time 10″ of shorts length ago…

  • SCHoosier

I know what you mean, but show me an “easy” put back in the B-10:) What was the name of that movie a couple of years ago “There will Be blood”?!!

  • CreanFaithful

“A couple of championships back in the day…” isn’t quite the same as 5 national championships and tied for 4th in the most NCAA championships all-time. But it’s nice that he knows we’ve won some 😉

  • 323SGrant

I thought IU was tied for third, with North Carolina, for Men’s BBall championships.

  • HoosierGrampy

Props to his parents for keeping him grounded and able to speak candidly about his future w/o appearing arrogant. A millennium version of Daryl Thomas?

  • CreanFaithful

    That is correct. Fixed.

  • WhatsUpKnight

i found that statement both amusing and sad. haha

one thing i do find particularly encouraging is that we don’t have to rely so heavily on tradition to get solid kids…’the facilities are great, the coaches are great, coach crean’s a special person who you want to pay attention to. and oh yeah, they won a couple championships back in the 1800s or somethnig’

  • Zach

Was cool to see Holt and April at the soccer game Sunday!

  • 323SGrant

  • If this kid can average 6 ppg at 85+ fg %, 1 bpg, 7 rpg, and 5 deflections in 25 mpg this will be a great team

  • ForeverIU

Emmitt will add 2 inches on paper alone, lol. So we’re talking 6-11 here.

Got as much or more out of this kind of video clip as I did the normal highlight reel. Liked what I heard.
