A good primer from TC on what his team is about to go thru. Amount of detail the coaches handle to cover everything the program expects from this team is nothing short of amazing. Show up..put on your shorts and shoes and go play? Not hardly! Have to admire that these young men are being taught on and off the court.

  • Alex

Crean should get used to the Canadian scene. Hopefully he’ll be coaching somewhere up there in a season or two.

  • GaHoosier

Easy there Alex. I’m gonna guess that you are not a fan of COACH Tom Crean. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but remember Coach Crean brought this program back from the dead.

Do I agree with every coaching decision he makes or every recruit he goes after? No I don’t, but not many coaches have been successful from the get go.

Coach Crean might not be the IU basketball coach that leads up to banner #6, however he is the head coach at IU and I’m going to cheer for IU as a whole.

  • Bryce Kepner

Great video! No matter what people say, Coach Crean is a great guy and a great coach. He really knows whats going on and truly teaching and preparing his team not only for the game of basketball but for life. Go Hoosiers!

  • Bryce Kepner

    Go troll somewhere else

  • Dennis

    Alex –
You are another guy that doesn’t know when to keep quiet. If you are a Hoosier fan, learn to BE one – not just CALL yourself one.
I think GaHoosier has said it right – thanks.

  • FED UP

I believe in supporting our coach, it just hard to deny that the guy struggles with the X’s and O’s. Ask a Marquette fan circa when he left – most were not upset when he left Milwaukee. Mike Davis could have made a Final Four if he had Dwayne Wade on his team (hell he made one with Jared Jeffries). It’s fine to support the coach. I do too. But it’s so frustrating to see a game lost do to lack of gameplan and mid-game adjustments. How can you possibly justify only playing our best player (and lottery pick) only 26 minutes a game? Why, in important conference games, is Crean playing a 10-man rotation? How can you possibly not manage to get your team to be able to inbound the ball 3 times in a row against Penn State last year? I’m all for supporting the coach and the team, but some of the people on this site need to wake up and look at this team objectively and think about if you support Crean because he is a good coach, or just simply because he is our coach. And even if you can’t atleast open your mind to that, look at all the kids leaving. If that isn’t a sign, I don’t know what is.

  • FED UP

Spare me your comments telling me how I don’t support the program. Call me when Crean figures out how to score on a zone.

  • HannerTime Hoosier

I love your comment, as being authentic n genuine trumps Kool-Aid drinking! Thank the hoops gods for an objective Hoosier fan. Not many of you down in pUkE land! Lmao. Look, if CTC gains enlightened in- game coaching skills, then watch out. I am all for it, but I may shoot up another TV. JUST KIDDING . . .

  • CreanFaithful

How is this post relevant? “Tom Crean previews IU’s Montreal tour”… Who wants to hear the the same tired comments on every post? Particularly on one that should be exciting. The x’s and o’s comments are always my favorite. Regarded as one of the best by his peers, but certain IU fans know better… Hats off to you FED UP. lol

  • CreanFaithful

If there were any justice in this world, Disqus would bring back the down vote!!!

  • ForeverIU

Actually IU has a reputation for playing well against the zone, which is why teams chose to use the zone minimally against us.

  • ForeverIU

FED UP you should OWN UP. If you are going to dump a bunch of tired cliches on us, then you should have the stamina to respond to our remonstrations. Please don’t spoil the fun on the eve of our first real game of the pre-season/off-season.

  • ForeverIU

    NO, PLEASE!!!!!

  • Joe Pop

From Milwaukee- grew up MU fan, went to IU. Simply not true that Marquette fans were not upset to see him go. I had buddies bitching about how he left for years. I’m pretty sure this dude is just trying to pick a fight because these arguments are so stupid and old.

  • hoosierodi

The point about kids transferring is irrelevant. People transfer all the time. Our transfers have been mostly due to lack of playing time which is why most transfer to lesser basketball schools. Also when has one of our better players transferred? Jeremy, Austin, Jurkin, Marlin. I don’t think their roles were irreplaceable on this team by any means.

  • MK

Maybe, but he is the coach for next season. So what difference will it make to cry about who the coach is…oh wait, none!

  • Bryce Kepner

The worst is that his post/rant got 8 up votes!

  • Bryce Kepner

My favorite part of this whole thing is that no matter the program, people are never happy with their coach. Heck even after last years early exit, some Duke fans on were calling for Coach K to be fired…No matter who the coach is here at IU, people will find things to nit pick and complain about.

  • Hoosier Hall

One of them was from himself…

  • Devout Hoosier

Repeating Crean doesn’t know X’s and O’s or makes in game adjustments doesn’t make it true. If anything you can fault Crean for making TOO many in game adjustments. This myth has been repeated too many times and needs to stop. I understand if you don’t like Coach or the style of basketball he employs but these unsupported assertions need to stop.

  • FED UP

Don’t you think that’s a problem? That none of them were irreplaceable?

  • SCHoosier

There are answers to all your questions but it would be a waste of my time to explain those issues. Not a kid left…who didn’t need to leave in hopes of reaching his own playing time goals. I assume you read that there were a record 700+ transfers this past year??

  • deebo

    Fischer killed us

  • iksnyrk

I’m a Marquette fan and I read this blog sometimes to see opinions on Tom Crean. You guys were all in love the first few years and are finally realizing his shortcomings. Marquette fans were the same. By the time he left, we were not exactly happy he left, be we were all excited about moving on. We all knew who Tom Crean was; a great recruiter and hype man and a below average X and O coach.
