2014 Indiana Basketball Recruiting Board

The 2014 Indiana Basketball Recruiting Board is a collection of information on recruits that Indiana is believed to be recruiting for its 2014 class.

Information that appears on school lists is collected from public recruit profiles on ESPN, Rivals, Scout, 247Sports and various news outlets. School lists only denote reported interest, not offers. The board should not be considered a complete list of prospects being recruited and is not endorsed by Indiana University.

If there is a prospect we should consider adding, please drop us an email at insidethehall@gmail.com.

Didn’t Jaran Lands get a scholly offer last year?

Really like the thought of PJ with the talent we have.  Might not have the stars, but heady player who values the basketball.

  • http://www.insidethehall.com/ Alex Bozich

He reportedly did, but I haven’t heard much about him and IU in recent months. Have watched him some this spring, but don’t feel he belongs in the top options at this time.

Hey Alex, your projected class sizes for 2012, 2013 and 2014 are 6, 4 and 4, which would put IU at 14 scholarships just for those three classes.  Is there a more realistic number or are you just assuming that some recruits from 2011, 2012 and 2013 will end up transferring or never making it to campus?

  • http://www.insidethehall.com/ Alex Bozich

I answered this over in the main thread, but here’s a copy of that response on the numbers:

“Combination of natural attrition (we’ve seen four transfers in three years), potential early entrants and level of talent available. If you add the projected class sizes: 2011 (3), 2012 (6), 2013 (4) and 2014 (4), you’ve got 17 players. Seems high, but these things have proven to work themselves out over time.

In 2013, I could see just a three-man class, but with a lot of names still on the board, I didn’t find it necessary to pair it down just yet. After July, things could come into more focus on that front.

In 2014, IU has already offered Lyle, Bluiett and Harris, so it’s not out of the realm that it’d be four-man class.

It’s far from an exact science and it’s just a best guess for the most part.”

    Fixed. Thanks for catching that.

Meant to include him. Added him in.

  • mharv2631

I agree Cliff and Jaquan and your set.

  • HoosierTrav

I’d say add either and we are set. Definitely not getting both. Rather see Lyle in candy stripes over any.

Alex: How about thinking about putting a 2015 board together? A few names being mentioned and being hosted.

You say 2012 (6). I’m only aware of 5. Who’s the 6th, or is that just speculation?

  • Evansville Hoosier

In light of ITH’s recent updates of the recruiting boards, I’ll write out a wish list.

    1. If we were to sign Lyle, Alexander, or Russell, I would be as ecstatic for one as I would for the others. Equal on my list, and the number one priority.
    2. Jalen Coleman. Seems like a baller and the best player in his class.
    3. Stanford Robinson. I like our recruitment of him, as he is a big, athletic, scoring guard. Star in the making IMO.
    4. Beejay Anya. Still have a lot of questions, but he seems like a solid guy with a good amount of potential.
    5. Eron Gordon. It may be VERY early, but Blackmon and Trey signed this early. It’d be cool to lock him up.
    6. Chandler White. Seems like a lethal scorer, and a guy I hope we can get a hold of.

Other than that… If it weren’t for CTC’s scouting ability with Sheehey and Oladipo, I might be skeptical. There are a few intriguing others, and maybe we’ll hear from them as well…

If any of these guys commit by the end of the AAU season, I’ll be very excited. I’m eager to watch it all play out.

  • Kelin Blab

What does Trevon Bluiett have to do to get ranked? Wow

  • NaplesHoosier

He just did in Rivals today…#47…..

  • AustinA

Trey Lyles, James Blackman Jr. and Jaquan Lyle would be a stellar class. I hope Lyle joins the mix!

  • SCHoosier

Alexander would obviously the the “plum” here..the E-ville kid seems to want to look around. So many talented players..so few roster spots to oblige them): Crean’s 4 year rotation planning is really an art….we’re gonna cry at a few and be surprised by a few I would guess when the “reaping” comes.

  • Mhumphrey123

Just moved down to Ft. Myers. Any good spots to watch IU games?

  • Jam

Doesn’t Noah Vonleh have an offer? Did you leave him off for a reason?

  • IUfan

The Sanibel Grill/Timbers, 703 Tarpon Bay Rd. Its on Sanibel Island but I believe its owned by an IU grad or a guy from Indiana. I can’t remember which. But when I am down there that is where I go to catch games.

  • IURob1997

WIth Blackmon and Lyles already on board a perfect class would be landing Alexander and either Jones or Lyle

Knew I’d forget someone. Will update. Thanks.

  • Jam

Highest rated player on the board. Hope you didn’t leave him off because you heard no chance.

  • Robert Sales

Any discussion about Marcus Lee? Perhaps I missed it, but just curious or he is off the radar?

  • Evansville Hoosier

I get the feeling JaQuan wants to be a national recruit. I’d still love to have him at IU though, he’d fit perfect. From what I’ve seen, he’s really started to get his head on straight lately, and I think he’s maturing as a guy and progressing as a player.

  • Evansville Hoosier

    Ideally:

    Jones
    Blackmon
    Lyle
    Lyles
    Alexander

I know we don’t necessarily have 5 spots in 2014, but we keep making room to add new guys apparently in our classes. I wouldn’t be surprised if we added 5 in 2014, and that class would be amazing. Probably won’t happen, but it’s fun to fantasize.

  • Obatskii

No one is perfect, although you and ITH is damn close.

  • http://www.insidethehall.com/ Alex Bozich

Lee is on the 2013 board.

  • IfLarryHadntLeft…

Here is my wish list for this class(please comment):
    0. Trey Lyles and James Blackmon, Jr.-already locked up
    1. Tyus Jones-seems like a long-shot now but Crean can work recruiting magic(and legally too, Calipari)
    2. Cliff Alexander-best big on our radar
    3. JaQuan Lyle-so much potential, can play/guard 3 or 4 positions
    4. D’Angelo Russell-getting him and Jones is a long-shot, but he could be paired with Lyle
    5. Noah Vonleh-great rebounder, seems like a long-shot now
    6. Trevon Blueitt-not ranked as high as other guys on this list, but seems like an IU kid (helps that we have Yogi, too)
    7. Theo Pinson-great player, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think we get Pinson, Lyle, and a PG…could see Lyle and Pinson or Pinson and a PG though
    8. To lock up as many of these guys above as humanly possible, this class could be legendary

What I think the 2013 class will look like:
PG D’Angelo Russell-seems to be leaning Louisville now, Crean can get him over the boarder though
SG James Blackmon, Jr.-a 4-yr guy who can just score the basketball
SF JaQuan Lyle-also doesn’t seem to be leaning IU’s way at the moment, but Crean can work magic
PF Trey Lyles-now this kid can be really good, ’nuff said
C Cliff Alexander-I think he will be the third commit in this class
6th Man Trevon Blueitt-doubt this class can be this big, but if it can, he will be on board

What I DREAM the 2013 class will look like:
PG Tyus Jones-best PG in the country
SG D’Angelo Russell-this backcourt would be so quick though undersized
SF JaQuan Lyle-can also play PG honestly, great ball handling trio
PF Trey Lyles-elite player who can also handle the ball
    C Cliff Alexander-powerful
6th Man-James Blackmon, Jr.-great scoring off the bench

again, please comment with your thoughts

  • HoosierKen73

    OR:

    Jones
    Blackmon
    Lyle
    Lyles
    Pinson
    Alexander

That’d be six amazing ‘dream’ recruits…any five of the six would be probably one of the ‘best ever’ classes. Talk about fun to fantasize. That’d only be 4 top ten recruits…whew, unbefreakingbelievable….

you wrote 2013 but you meant 2014 right?

  • SCHoosier

Critics point out deficiences in this guy’s “athletic ability”..not sure what that means spefifically..but the kid can score. At 6-5 he’s a “tweener”. Bet Butler would give up their Bulldog to get this kid..seems a perfect fit for that program. Anywhere he goes ..if not IU..I hope the Hoosiers don’t have the play them

  • jaypay23

Great evaluation I see us getting 1 more big recruit and then probably Blueitt. I don’t think we get Cliff because we have not recruited that area very well lately.I think are best chances for the big recruit is Lyle. And if we don’t get Lyle I think we will get a guy like Booth.

  • IfLarryHadntLeft…

I think Crean will recruit Cliff hard because he is the best big on his radar. I agree that Lyle is the most likely big time player right now, but D’Angelo isn’t unreasonable. Tyus is a long-shot right now though

  • NaplesHoosier

Don’t know about Ft. Myers but i live in North Naples and go to Bocampers on Vanderbilt Beach Road.  thats where IU Alumni here watch the games…hope that helps.  welcome to SW Fl….lots of IU around here for sure

  • NaplesHoosier

I find it very interesting that Theo Pinson is off for unofficial visit on what Friday?  That was fast!  Any comments?

  • SirEric

Things are moving FAST! This is a bit like the Stanford Robinson situation. Getting Pinson would really blow me away.

  • HoosierTrav

I love FM Beach and Sanibel. Best shrimp I’ve ever was at this fresh seafood market that catches everything themselves. It was on the mainland side of the San Carlos Blvd bridge. UMMMMM (homer simpson voice)
