Devin Robinson cancels UConn visit, down to four

2013 NBA Players Assocation Top 100

Class of 2014 Christchurch (Va.) forward Devin Robinson is down to four schools.

The 6-foot-8, 170 pound wing canceled his official visit to Connecticut that was to take place the weekend of Oct. 19. The Hartford Courant was the first to report the news.

Robinson has already taken official visits to Oklahoma State, Notre Dame and Indiana and will take his final official visit this weekend to Florida.

He is expected to sign a National Letter of Intent in the early signing period that begins on Nov. 13. Robinson is rated the No. 21 prospect nationally in the 247Composite.

Indiana has one commitment in its 2014 class, Richmond Benedictine (Va.) guard Robert Johnson.

Billy Donovan and sunshine. I live in the Tampa area since 84. Born and raised in Indiana. Grad from IU in 82. Florida has a really good program and the weather ricks.

Walking into Assembly Hall for HH and you hear the chant, Devin, Devin, Devin…. that’s got to make you feel good. We have some educated fans and Devin, we welcome you.

  • BlakeD1223

is anyone else just excited that we are in the running with some of these schools? Crean is getting the attention of a lot of great players.

  • Michael Crawley

JH may show no emotion but he does know how to get to the ball when we need a bucket or a defensive play. He really is that good. Last year we were stacked so his role was limitted this year he will get a lot more opportunities. I can see him starting or being the 6th man.

  • SCHoosier

I think Crean pointed out that JH lead the scrimmages in scoring because he took the most shots..said he needs to become “more efficient”. Found the report that JH was getting some point guard time interesting given he had a lot of TO’s last year whenever he put the ball on the floor. Hopefully Mr. Hollowell will take a big jump forward this year..has the talent.

I thought you were going to say “more respect for the ladies” and then I’d have to disagree. What’s the saying, Notre Dame…where the men are men and the women are too, and then there’s Oberlin where it can be confusing.

Florida is at LSU this week

    D. Robinson would be an outstanding addition to our team. That said, if these players can’t really make up their minds after months of courting and visits, it makes you wonder just how badly they want to play for a given school.

  • The_Bob_Michaels

A little off topic, but whatever happened to all the stories about recruiting violations at UCONN? As I recall, they were much more severe than impermissible phone calls, but it seems everything just conveniently disappeared. I wonder this every time I hear them linked to a top level recruit.

  • BlakeD1223

I understand where you are coming from. I think it’s just a really tough decision for these kids. Especially at their age. Being from Indiana and being an IU fan my whole life I would spank my kid if she didn’t decide to go to IU if she could. ha ha I can’t imagine not going to a school in the state you are born and raised in but I guess some kids just want to get away.

  • Ole Man

I get excited when they sign the dotted line.
Not speaking about DR, but a lot of recruits list Indiana simply for the prestige and value of the name. To those types of recruits, Crean is just an afterthought.

  • Kyl470

Completely agree. I think a lot of people forget that IU only has 2 seniors this year. So if you fill those 2 spots with 2 top 50 players that’s pretty good in my book.

  • Kyl470

IU saw firsthand last year that Georgetown started a point guard and then 4 other guys all 6’8″ or taller. IU could have a similar line up with Yogi, Troy, Hollowell, Noah, and Fischer. If your bigs have a guard skills it can be a huge advantage.

  • BlakeD1223

You don’t seem to be a big fan of Crean. Any reason?

  • HoosierTrav

Your son and I have mutual interests.

  • HoosierTrav

Jeremy Lamb with a better perimeter jump shot.

  • mk

Its not just one school, its every school recruiting them. Imagine u are being hit on by the top 5 hottest girls in high school, and can only choose one – As soon as u choose the others start looking hotter again. I think its just an extremely hard decision and would rather have a recruit take his time and be sure then jump the gun and decommit.

  • Ole Man

Actually, I think CTC deserves all the credit in the world for resurrecting the IU program.
I don’t always agree with his in-game Xs & Os.
My comment was not a slam of Crean, but an opinion of how some recruits treat Indiana. If they’re only using the program, then Crean would be an afterthought to them.

  • BlakeD1223

Gotcha. I have had my moments of questioning the X’s and O’s but in the end I just figure they know a helluva a lot more about the game then I do. ha ha.

I just thought I had seen some other comments from you that were negative towards CTC so I was just curious. I hope we can get some of these big recruits. If nothing else I hope he can turn players like Hanner into studs to show how CTC can help with player development.

  • DAThoosier

I don’t see how anything he’ll experience at Florida is going to top what he saw at Hoosier Hysteria. I’ve got a good feeling about this one.

  • ForeverIU

DR back from Florida and tweeting about IU. Hmmm … Good news coming?

  • Aceman_Mujezinovic_07

I’ve questioned some of the X’s and O’s as well. I think CTC is a great recruiter and motivator and I’ve even seen him come up with some great game plans (ala pUKe 2012), but where I’ve seen some deficiencies is in the “in game adjustment” category. I think there could have been changed made in last year’s game against Syracuse that weren’t made, among other games I’ve watched.

He’s a real good coach and I’m glad IU’s got him but he’s still got room to grow. There have been several coaches I don’t consider to be great in game coaches who have won championships because they could recruit talent and motivate them and not everybody can be great at everything, I guess.

  • Aceman_Mujezinovic_07

He may look like CWat, but CWat never had athletic ability like that!

  • jack_j100

JBJ is a Hoosier only geographically, not where it counts. The Hoosier Nation as zero shot at this blue blood. Forget him and move on. Don’t need him, don’t want him.

  • Vince pawloski

He needs to get that elbow in ^^ ; )

  • http://Insidethehall.com/ HoosierKen73

I guess the biggest adjustment he should’ve made was suddenly get a couple of 6′ 6″ guards to go against Syracuse.. maybe put Vic and Yogi on stilts. Wow now that would’ve been a great in-game adjustment…

  • Wet Vette

Its 10-17-13 Florida and Oklahoma St, has visited Devin at his home and school….Hey CTC its YOUR TURN to take a visit lets not loose him right at the end AGAIN.This would be a great addition to INDIANA so jump on a plane and go get him, bring him back to IU with you.
