Video: Hoosier Hysteria 3-point, dunk contest highlights

  • 10/04/2013 10:34 pm in

Sophomores Yogi Ferrell and Hanner Mosquera-Perea were among the standouts in Friday’s Hoosier Hysteria dunk and 3-point shooting contests.

Ferrell made 30 of 50 shots over the course of two rounds to capture the 3-point contest and Mosquera-Perea finished as the runner-up in the dunk contest to Devin Davis due to scoring in the finals, but had the better performance of the two overall.

We’ve compiled footage from both events in the embedded media players below:

I sure hope the Big Ten Network replays this event at a later date!

SO…that just got me PUMPED to see what PEREA is gonna do this year. He looks like he did a 180 with his confidence in the off season. WATCH OUT FOR THIS DUDE

that second dunk from AIR COLOMBIA was more creative than any of the garbage the NBA dunk contest has put out in the last 5 years

    What is up with vonleh???

Yogi’s form looks NICE! If he keeps it tight and keeps working on it, and has great shot selection, he’ll leave a 40%+ shooter behind the arc. His mechanics look much more sound and he doesn’t kick out quite as much.

Funny thing is, Devin Davis won the dunk contest, and Davis has some hops of his own. Hoosiernation isn’t going to be sleeping on Davis for long.

He looked pretty good in the three point contest, but he doesn’t get his shot off quickly enough yet. His release point is high but he has a bit of a wind up. He’ll hit them if he’s ever open out there trailing though I can’t see that happening too often.

Apparently wasn’t healthy enough to participate in the scrimmage but he looked fine during the 3PT contest.

Someone in the NBA dunk contest dunked two basketballs a year or two ago. I think it may have been Gerald Green but I can’t recall.

You would think the people that say things like this would at least watch the NBA dunk contest for reference.

  • Wesleyiubb

The dunk with 2 balls was cool.. 2 years ago in the NBA Gerald green cut the net down and dunked the same ba twice. The 2 ball dunk is not an orginal dunk.

  • Tweaked his ankle. Holding him out as a precaution.

  • drewheck

If Devin didn’t hurt his back he would have been a top100 recruit

  • AZIU71

Looked like a definite change in Yogi’s 3pt. shooting mechanics, more effortless to get it there (like Hulls). Should pay big dividends in higher shooting percentage.

  • Townie12

Looks more confident…. hope that carries over into actual games

  • HannerTime Hoosier

Will Hanner be successful @ IU? Can he spell his own name? If you answered YES to the second question, then you know the answer to the 1st. Those of you out there who doubt his capability may not really know hoops players and there potential. Nuff Sed! (yeah, I know those 2 words are misspelled.) Lol

  • The_Real_Assembly_Hall

What about your use of “there potential” instead of “their potential”? I believe in HMP too.

  • The_Real_Assembly_Hall

He did execute it though. Post your video of your 2 ball dunk if you can. I would like to see it.

Not many dunks are original anymore, but the good ones are worth watching done again!!

  • BlakeD1223

I agree. The IU dunk contest was kinda lame. It’s hard to know what really happened while just watching highlights but there were a lot of missed dunks. There’s a lot of NBA haters out there so that comment doesn’t surprise me too much. It’s just hard to come up with new dunks.

  • BlakeD1223

Yeah, I was a little disappointed in his shot. I would love to see a quicker release. Especially if he wants to play in the NBA. I’m sure they will work on a quicker release for him but it’s hard to change someones shot in a year.

  • BlakeD1223

Since I have commented on your other comments I might as well comment on this one. 🙂

Yogi’s shot looked incredible! He has a much better extension on his release. It seemed quicker as well. If he can threaten guards with that quick release and make them guard him closer then he will kill people off the dribble. I’m excited to see how well he does this year.

I thought Stanford looked good as well. He’s very flashy. He will be a great player to get the crowd into it. Everything about him is athletic. I hope he turns out to be another Victor.

    Did Yogi get Hanner’s haircut?
