He has some gordonesqe qualities. A shooter that dunks.

This kid is being slept on by many. His athleticism is really improving and his work ethic is second to none at the high school level. Coming back from a complete reconstruction of the ACL is tough. He has come back MUCH BETTER. He was always at Speice working to get back. Looks like a young Ray Allen type of scorer. Bloomington is gonna love this kid. Effortless stroke, can create distance for himself to get that stroke off. Cant wait to see him in the candy stripes.

Could care less what ranking the kid has. I haven’t seen a better scorer in this class. Love his non-cocky demeanor. He is B1G ready in terms of scoring. I see a little Allen Iverson in him. With a better attitude.

Man, when I heard he’d gone down w/ an ACL, I thought he’d be reduced to a spot shooter. Boy was I wrong… I’m not sure if it was the competition — he doesn’t look especially explosive — but clearly he knows how to pick his spots.

Doesn’t look especially explosive, were you wachthing the same highlight I was? Maybe he doesn’t look explosie because it looks so easy, but he’s got his bounce back and he looked like he was jumping very well to me. That’s one of the things I thought right away was that he had some serious explosion. It’s effortless, so it doesn’t look like he’s actually jumping that high, but compared to lyles and lyle this kid is Jordan explosion-wise.

  • Brklynhoosier

Oh, I wasn’t trying to run him down — sorry. He’s very, very smooth, and man can he finish — but he reminds me more of Deshaun Thomas (for the obvious reason) than Victor. Know what? I’ll take that…

  • Dee McDonald

I gotcha. I was actually surprised by his explosiveness, so I thought otherwise. I don’t think he has the Vic-type of athleticism, but they say it’s a true 18-month recoery time until you get full explosion back into your legs. So, if that continues, I think we’ll be fine with the bounce.

    Silky smooth

We could use his shooting this year

This vid is the first I’ve seen where he looks somewhat like his Dad. James Sr. and I played on the same team at Five Star in the summer of ’82. He doesn’t have the hops of his Dad, but he’s as good as a shooter… maybe even better. James Jr. has a smooth jumper that reminds me of Jay Edwards. His Dad, had a JUMPER… every shot, he was 3 feet off the ground… like Sheehey shoots It will be very interesting to see how his scoring goes this year moving into the NCC.
