• No Troy was never injured GOD HAS HIS HANDS ON HIM

Remember what everyone was saying last year about the movement? Hanner Perea and Hollowell were going to come in and be stars; we were going to be sooo deep with Hanner and 7 footer Jurkin… well Yogi is pretty much the only one who has made a large contribution; Hollowell has gotten better as the season has progressed, but he is still somewhat of a liability when on the floor. Hanner and Peter are non existent.

Realistically, we can expect Vonleh to come in and take over Watford’s spot and contribute from day one, like Yogi did this year with the PG spot.

Past that we can hope Troy can make contributions from day one and hope Fischer looks better than Hanner or Peter did this year, but I wouldn’t count on anyone other than Noah.

  • twarrior87

Maybe he didn’t want to get his IU shirt all sweaty.

  • twarrior87

    I agree 100%

  • twarrior87

Regarding my last post… I don’t want anyone to think I’m down on Troy at all… I’m just tempering my expectations until I see him play in college b/c of how excited we all were about other guys who came in this year and didn’t end up contributing as much as we thought they would from day one.

  • dtfreed

hard to tell on talent/skill with the no D clips, but jumps well, and if he play D right out the gate he will be a match problem for a lot of teams

  • WhatsUpKnight

y’know, i’ve watched several of these recruit videos, especially when all the hype started about the ‘movement’. is it me, or does it look like he play waaaayyy faster (excluding yogi) than the typical hs player, even the top 100 recruits? am i imagining this?

  • kewaynes

You should get a chair. It’s easier to type from and…I disagree

Who will be the pure shooter on IU’s team next year? Hulls is the only player that surprises me when he misses a 3.. Is Hartman a guy who can stroke it? Williams is a scorer, but we need a pure shooter.

The ability to catch the ball and the court awareness alone make that statement border on preposterous.

  • marcusgresham

I haven’t really seen him shoot either (and my computer’s not quick enough to try.) Does it look better than Remy’s shot?

Hartman is a shooter. Etherington, also if he’s healthy. Don’t sleep on Jonny Marlin, either.

  • marcusgresham

Harris is pretty damn strong. Stauskas also spends his time 20 feet from the basket. Dekker is the only one of those three who would be considered a front-court player, so that’s not necessarily a fair comparison. I know Troy will be a “wing”, but he’s more 3 than 2. I’m not saying he won’t be effective, just that I wouldn’t use Stauskas and Harris as the models for his potential.

  • marcusgresham

I hate that feference to “the regression of Remy Abell,” because he’ll be the primary ball-handler next year when Yogi’s getting a rest (unless Stan can do it.)

  • marcusgresham

Whatever the reason you’re sending him our way, we’re glad you are!

  • Geoff_85

The talk about “no three point shots” is seriously making me doubt the intelligence of the people making this claim. He has a pretty good stroke and if you watch the second video, there is a section where it shows him shooting SIX DIFFERENT THREE POINTERS…in a row. Seriously, before you make accusations, watch the video.

  • Geoff_85

I’m glad you actually ASKED that, Marcus. His 3pt stroke is head and shoulders above Remy Abell’s. Remy certainly was effective shooting it though, wasn’t he? I remember at one point when he was 9-11 on the season from beyond the arc (was that last year? can’t remember now). When Troy catches it in rythm, he really has a nice stroke. The clip also shows him knocking down contested threes and at least one three in transition. His stroke is NOT bad and he can absolutely shoot it from out there. I encourage everyone to watch the second video posted here.

Thank you for correcting that. What I meant was 4 STARTERS leaving. The Mo Creek discussion will be in full force in the offseason. I don’t think there are too many IU fans thinking about that right now, but it’s certainly in the back of our minds. I’ve been doing my best to avoid the conversation of “who will leave this year to make room for all of the incoming freshman?” There of course will be talk about Etherington transferring, prep school for at least one recruit, and talk about Mo Creek’s time as a Hoosier having run out. That time will be here sometime after Indiana starts playing like Indiana again, and hangs banner 6 when this season is over.

its always wise to not get to hyped over a freshman cause u never no how they will respond to the college game..ive been burned way to much the last being holowell who i think will still b very good, i thought with his all round offensive game he would b a factor from day 1..i like troy for a couple reasons 1. he looks to hav a high motor which in my opinion is huge, lots of things can be covered up with gr8 effort and hustle, you dont get that many tip dunks without constant effort…2.. hes a gr8 athlete you can do so much with an athlete especially on defense…i here hes a good passer and i guess his jumper is a work in progress but at least it had some arc n touch so im sure it can improve..im lookin forward to next years class go IU

I’m with you on that. He really has, though. It pains me a little to say it too, but there is no reason to think that he won’t make improvements going into next season, except for the fact that it appears he has regressed a little going into this year. I will continue to be an optimist unless he shows us next year that he hasn’t improved.

  • Geoff_85

I think it’s because Troy and Patty understand that our Hoosiers are a family and that Coach Crean and his staff embrace that. Can’t wait to see him in action with a Hoosiers uniform on.

  • Geoff_85

    Just a bitter Beavers fan.

  • HoosierKen73

Correct me if I’m wrong, but he doesn’t play the same pposition as Wat. Troy is a 2 or a 3.. so to compare him to Wat is not being accurate. Wat is supposed to be a 4…but IMO really most games at least, doesn’t rebound well enough as a four. You need to cpmpare him more to Vonleh,, now Vonleh is at least as tall as CWat and probably longer. Don’t know if he will ever shoot the three as well as Wat, but I’ll bet he’ll rebound better..drive the basket better..and his coach thinks will in fact hit the three consistently as he progresses. Everyone says the ‘sky is the limit’ on Noah.
Anyway, that is my opinion for what it’s worth.. You can compare Troy to Vic and it would be more accurate. He’s taller than Vic and I believe longer.. if he has the kind of work ethic everyone says.. He’ll be just about like him.

  • HoosierKen73

Hey Beavers are great.. and I don’t find them bitter at all…. At least not usually…lol….

  • HoosierKen73

REALLY.. Pardon me but does gary Harris start for MSU ..or not? He’s not exactly Mr. Musculature….And I believe he was thinner in High School than he is now.

  • HoosierKen73

I agree with you Marcus..but I’m betting Troy is very strong also..and he has time to work on that until he get’s here.. He’s young..that’s when it happens. I agree with IUfanPurduePhD…”He’ll be fine.”

  • HoosierKen73

Good point Geoff.. Sometimes I wonder where these guys dig up these things… I think a lot just mouth off, cause they got an idea and splatter in, like $hit against the wall, hoping it’ll stick…

  • The_Real_Assembly_Hall

    He is very quick.
