The calendar may have recently shifted to July, but Christian Watford’s shot to beat No. 1 Kentucky back on December 10 is still garnering national attention.

Watford’s buzzer-beater beat out fifteen other top plays to win the ESPY award for best play on Wednesday night.

Watford accepted the award from Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and actress Zooey Deschanel.

“First off I’d like to thank God for this experience and opportunity, I wouldn’t be here without him,” Watford told the crowd at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. “I’d also like to thank my family and Coach Crean for being out here to support me.

“I’d also like to thank my teammates. Special thanks to Cody Zeller and Verdell Jones. I definitely wouldn’t be up here without you guys. I’m thankful to the Hoosier Nation and everybody who voted for me.”
