I’m impressed by coach Crean’s speech every time. He’s very passionate and representing IU very well.
There’s no other coach in the nation that I’d rather have.
If you ever have a day where you don’t feel like doing anything productive, just watch one of his speeches.
Tom Crean could make jumping off a 10 story building sound like the best idea you’ve ever had.
I was thinking “convince a lost, thirsting man in the desert to drink a tall glass of sand”…but same idea.
What’s nice about it is that, like his team, HE is getting better. He’s a much better, more comfortable and confident speaker than he was when he first got to Indiana.
And not just on the stump. In the press conference video that was also posted, he’s better extemporaneously than he was in the beginning.
That fact should make everyone even more optimistic about the future. It suggests Coach is/will become even better at recruiting; at PR and networking with coaches; more attractive as a speaker at events, camps, and clinics; and more popular as a tv guest.
It also suggests he does not consider himself a finished product and is willing to work at getting better. The improvement in his public speaking did not come by accident. Some of it is a natural result of repetition but some of it had to have come from practice and work. Presumably, he has the same attitude about the rest of his responsibilities.
What a rabbit-out-of-the-hat his hiring was.
Good call. I like how he pointed out that he was “not happy” with the UK win, because we should have won by 15. I also liked that he pointed out that he should have recognized the defensive mismatch potential earlier in the season. He is definitely critical of himself, and just as he has with speaking, he will only get better in his coaching abilities.
We should have hired him in the first place when we had the chance. Instead of hiring that other guy not to be mentioned.
Coach Crean;s passion is seen reflected every time our team hits the court! His vision for where we are going will soon hang another banner in the Hall. Thankful to be an IU fan!
