Based on extensive research, 3 different analytics software packages, and hours of film work I have some different outputs:

    2013
    Luke Fischer #41
    Devin Davis #53
    Colin Hartman #99

    2014
    Trey Lyles #4
James Blackman – injury – suspend rankings metrics until playing again, what is 31 based on?

    2015
    Hyron Edwards #7

    Just saying.

    2015:

#5 Marcus LoVett, Jr. with Indiana interest.

#3 Diamond Stone from Milwaukee. Crean has seen him play at least once (maybe only once, I’m not sure). Don’t know what, if any, interest there is from either side.

  • Geoff_85

Does anyone think Luke Fischer will get ranked higher when he grows another 2 inches?

  • CreanFaithful

From what I have heard, he will have a much larger role on his HS team next year. Hopefully that translates into better stat lines, which I would guess would jump him up in the ranks. 2 more inches wouldn’t hurt either!

Does anyone else get incredibly excited so many top 50 players are seriously considering us?

    Are we recruiting Tyus Jones?

  • Joe B

The thing that catches my eye is that (despite a little down year in ’13) the amount of basketball talent that consitenly comes out of the state of Indiana is truly astounding. We have to produce the most D-I basketball players per capita. That right there tells me Indiana truly is the heart of basketball. Go Hoosiers (the university and state kind)

  • HoosierDadE

Luke is the ever growing recruit…
I leave my Fischer insight to our Hoosier Cheesehead, what’s the insight WiscoHoosier?

  • Hoosier7883

    Trevon Bluiett?

  • JayTehHayGOIU

Confused on why Robinson went down. Also confused on why the grades changed on ESPN now a five star player can be graded 91?

  • Basketball may have been born in Massachusetts,
but it grew up in Indiana.

    * Good passer. Knows exactly where to be on the floor, where his teammates are, and where the defense is weak. Very smart (an honor student, I believe).

    * Strong from the high post. Our cutters and 3-point shooters will love him. With his height, he can see over most people guarding him. But unless he develops a 16-foot shot, his man will drop back to protect the basket.

    * Team player. Doesn’t have to be the star. I don’t know one way or another about his competitive drive. He’s so calm, it’s hard to tell. But Cody is calm, and he’s as focused and driven as anyone I’ve seen.

    * Can’t jump, and may never do this well. Not very fast or strong. Has to use fundamentals to compensate. He’ll always have trouble guarding a fast 6’7 player.

    * There’s no assurance he’ll be as good as a college senior as Cody was as a freshman. Cody is special, and it may be a long time before we see his likes again.

    * I’ll be very happy if Fischer is a legit 6’10 without shoes when he arrives at IU.

    * We should encourage him to play with shoes on, however.

    * How good will he be, and when? It’s hard to say with bigs. A short while back, Wisconsin had a McDonald’s All-American center, and Bo Ryan redshirted him as a freshman.

    * This was more than you asked for, but there it is. Luke will do well at IU, and I’m glad we have him.

I believe so, there was an article about his conversation with CTC as well as an offer on Peegs recently-ish

  • HoosierDadE

For the name alone, Diamond Stone, he should get an offer…
Maybe just because I work w/ a Marquette alum, but he’s pretty confident about Buzz’s relationship w/ Diamond.

  • Evansville Hoosier

He’s been offered by Crean, but no one on here seems to think Jones is seriously considering us at this point. Maybe that will change this year.

  • Jsnake

Heck, yeah I do. Can’t believe how far the program has come. Crean just keeps bringing them in.

  • Walt

A couple of thoughts..Cody you need to stay at IU entire 4 years. Why? The pros have got to get this elbow to the head stuff fixed. Want you to be well, so stay at IU.
I want BeeJay at IU. Should be better than Nix, but that’s the kind of body and talent we need on the floor at AH. He is intimidating and think he would fit in.

  • Evansville Hoosier

Lovett? Nah, I like Hyron! He’s dunking at age 15, 5’11”. And he’s an Indiana guy. Very quick, great dribbler, and only ranked a few spots below Lovett. I think Hyron will be very good. Hope to land him.

  • marcusgresham

He should play at IU if for no other reason that to ride with the Cutters in Little 5.

  • Jam

Need update, already. Theo Pinson offered.

  • Is anyone as excited to get Lyles in candy stripes as much as I am? He is going to be the best player we have had in a long time. But first things first, LET’S GET BEEJAY!!

  • For 2014 & 2015 yes. I hope we sign 3-4 more of them!

If our top recruit for 2013 ends up being ranked #60 as said above, I’d consider it a down class…

  • CreamandCrimson

We are all very excited about Lyles, no doubt about that. I just have to disagree with your statement that he is going to be the best player we have had in a long time. Cody Zeller is really, really good and only getting better.

  • CreamandCrimson

His exclusion was really confusing. I can’t see there legitimately being 60 players better than him in the class of 2014.

  • IULaw79

Love the fact that the former #35 recruit is no longer even in the top 100. That recruit? Derek Willis, committed to Kentucky.

ESPN changed how they come up with their numbers. Here’s a link.

I just wish we could have hauled in Gary Harris to hold down the shooting guard position until Justin Blackmon arrives.

  • WisconHoosier

Add Justin Jenifer, 2015 point guard from Maryland. I’ve heard mutual interest, but don’t know if it’s true. Don’t know anything about an offer.

He looks Yogi-like in videos. Like trying to guard a laser dot.

  • CZ is a good player but Lyles is going to be an overall better player than CZ. CZ has problems rebounding and being aggressive, which Lyles still has to work on being aggressive too, but Lyles has more weapons. We seen CZ as a savior of sorts since we hadn’t had a good big man in a long time but if you look at his stats from last year he wasn’t a superior player. Word on the street though is he has gotten much bigger and better so hopefully he will be a different player this year.

  • RecruitGuy

Does any ever feel like we should have recruited higher level guys to start with? Hartman and Davis both arent even in the top 100 for 2013 and we might be able to one more guy. Our options are very limited now because we recruited lower level guys so early. I am talking about Hartman more than Davis, dont see Hartman getting alot of minutes with the guys we will have when he comes in and the guys coming in after him.

He has a jumper, he just didn’t use it last year

  • marcusgresham

Not everyone needs to be a 5-star; you need role players and I’d say a 6’7″ sharpshooter should be fairly effective when used with the rest of this roster. I’m sure he doesn’t shoot quite as well as Roth, but he’s 4 inches taller so I’d assume he’s a better rebounder.
