HD Video: Davis, Fischer square off at Spring Classic

A pair of future Hoosiers — Devin Davis and Luke Fischer — met on the court for the first time Sunday morning in the adidas Spring Classic at Fishers Fieldhouse.

Davis won the statistical battle with nine points, two rebounds and two blocks, but it was Fischer’s Wisconsin Swing team who prevailed 70-67 over the Eric Gordon All-Stars and went on to win the tournament championship Sunday afternoon.

Fischer finished with four points, three blocks and two rebounds. Collin Hartman, the third member of IU’s 2013 recruiting class, did not play this weekend due to an injury.

Watch close to three minutes of footage from the game in the embedded media player below:

Luke Fischer seems to have the same type of game as Cody Zeller.  He is not near as good, obviously.  Devin Davis is the next AJ Moye (4 inches taller than AJ!).  Not looking forward to facing Zak Irvin.  He is Michigan’s version of Jeremy Hollowell.  Anyway, looked like a great game with two future Hoosiers!  Can’t beat that!

Things Fischer needs to really work on before he comes to B’Town: LATERAL QUICKNESS and timing. He has improved a lot since I last saw him.

Devin Davis reminds me of Draymond Green in his energy, strength, and versatility.

The more I see of Davis, the more excited I get about him coming to IU.  He has a high motor and is good to the hoop.  He is very athletic too, which will fit in well with CTC’s system.

Fischer keeps improving, but I’d like to see him go stronger to the rim.  He got his shot blocked a few times by smaller players, and I think it is because he catches the ball high, but brings it down low before going back up.  That is something that Cody does not do, and hopefully Fischer can correct that little hitch.

The ’13 class is looking better and better the more I see them.
