Jeremy Hollowell led Lawrence Central to the program’s first sectional title since 1998.

And for a time on Saturday morning inside historic Hinkle Fieldhouse, the Mr. Basketball candidate and IU signee looked to be putting his team in position to play for a regional championship.

But Hollowell and the Bears (17-7) couldn’t overcome the hot second half shooting of Pike’s R.J. Hunter, who finished with a game-high 27 points, and fell 74-68 in a Class 4A regional semifinal. Hollowell finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Inside the Hall caught up with Hollowell and Lawrence Central coach J.R. Shelt for postgame reaction:

I am really hyped up to see how Hallowell performs in an IU jersey next year.  I sort of see him as very similiar to Calbert Cheaney in many aspects, with sort of a Steve Smith sort of drive game.  He does not strike me as a guy who is just going to blow by guys driving to the rim, but I think that he will be very affective going to the basket with a good basketball IQ.

I couldnt agree more. He reminds me of Calbert in almost every way. Except Calbert was a nobody coming in. RMKs son said he was the best player in High-School. I think Jeremy is underrated too. I would rather have Jeremy than Harris anyday. Harris is a great athlete but average shooter.
