The players haven’t been there?  You can’t keep saying that year after year.  We just didn’t play smart or with effort.  We keep hearing what we need to do better but we never see it.  Crean needs to start coming up with better gameplans that work.

I understand your frustration but do Crean’s gameplans get any credit for the 15 wins so far?

Just saying…”come up with better gameplans that work” adds absolutely nothing.

I think we need to run some off-ball screens for Roth.  Work some high post-low post sets with Watford and Zeller and move Cody around a bit more to get him facing the basket.  We are clearly having a hard time getting Cody the ball.  So move him to the high post occasionally and allow him to take his man off the dribble.  He is quicker than any other big and this could cause a lot of foul trouble for the opposition.  If they double him when he drives, Watford is probably going to be open.  I think Crean is doing a very nice job (not the best X and O coach in the country but I think he has done a nice job) and I give him credit for the 15 wins, not just blame for the 3 losses (only one of which I expected to win).

I know what we can do to win play defense!!!!!! Set screens, move without the ball. We just stand around at the 3 pt line. We don’t block out. Our offense is sad as far as moving without the ball. Our screens our the laziest iv’e  seen in the big ten. It going to be a long season if crean doesn’t fix this. Oh yeah 1 more thing Feed the ball to Cody. Our whole offense should flow through cody. It funny how we never go to him unless we need a bucket. The guard’s need to start doing there job and creating plays. You notice how active other teams our in there offense it’s night and day compared to us. A good team should win on the road against other good teams and we have got beat by a combined 32 pts to the spartans and buck’s.

Start the best 5 players every game.  Don’t understand VJIII starting over Sheehey.  Sheehey can score, defend, rebound and is athletic.  Hulls can shoot lights out when he decides to shoot, but against athletic, quick guards, his defense is awful.  Hulls will get his shots if Sheehey is at the other guard spot or the 3 spot as teams will have to defend Sheehey because he is versatile and this will open up Hulls for more open shots.  Jones needs to be thanked for sticking with us and helping us build the program, but it’s way past time for putting the best 5 on the court at the start.  We need to continue building for the future and the future is with Sheehey.

I believe he is saying that this team isn’t used to winning, and they haven’t been there yet. Which is 100% true.

I understand the frustration, and the way we lost isn’t great, but Ohio State hadn’t won by less than 20 points at home until this game. Couple that with the revenge O$U wanted to hand to us, and this was a fairly predictable outcome.

It’s not necessarily about who starts, it’s about minutes, and when and with who they play them. Due to the fact that Sheehey is recently coming off of an injury, it seems reasonable that he only got 16 minutes this game (even though I have no idea what the injury was).

I want to see Abell get more minutes. He plays with great intensity on defense (something we sorely lacked in this game), and he only got 2 minutes.
Meanwhile, Jordy gets 35 minutes and played terribly in the first half. His turnovers made me want to go insane, and he always seems to fall down with the ball!

I’m a huge Crean supporter, so I love the guy. I’m going to reserve judgement on a gameplan when the players he has prove that they can execute what Crean wants them to (feeding the post, staying active on D, etc.)

  • Where were those refs from the 1st game Terry Wymer, Mike Sanzere, Scott Thornley, you have to get OSU’s top 3 players benched quickly. Stop the fast break with offensive foul calls by getting under Sullinger while he catches the pass before he’s allowed to land his feet. That’s how you take their physicality out of the game, brake their spirit. You have to stay on them constantly when they start those runs tying one of their hands behind their back courtesy of the black and white stripes. Those refs are needed on these road trips.

It is probably time to send a message to a couple starters that anything less than, as Crean likes to put it, “Locked In” will result loss of starting spot and lack of minutes.  Sometimes the only way to a players head is through his arse sitting on the pine.  Will in for Vic and Remy in for Hulls/Jones would be a good place to start.
