Podcast on the Brink: Luke Fischer

  • 01/06/2012 1:28 pm in

Fresh off his commitment to join the Hoosiers’ Class of 2013, Germantown (WI) big man Luke Fischer joins Podcast On The Brink to discuss his decision to attend Indiana.

Hosts Matt Dollinger and Greg Rosenstein ask Fischer about his decision to pick the Hoosiers, along with what his relationship with Tom Crean is like and what he sees in the future of IU basketball. Fischer also goes in-depth about the recruiting process and explains why he picked Indiana over other schools.

Fischer, who will join Devin Davis and Colin Hartman in IU’s 2013 recruiting class, also addresses comparisons to Cody Zeller and talks about what he is working on before he gets to Bloomington.

So tune in this week and enjoy. Feel free to drop us a note at podcastonthebrink@gmail.com.

  • Lots and lots of good stuff from Luke. What impressed me the most is how smart he seems for a sixteen or seventeen-year-old. If someone interviewed me for fifteen plus minutes when I was sixteen I would have come across as a moron.

Great job guys that was awesome thanks.

    Love this kid!

Great job guys! If you can continue to get interviews like this with recruits, and other noteables like Don Fischer, this podcast will really take off.  You are getting more polished as well, and the episodes are flowing better.         Good luck and continued success!

As for Luke, he sounds a lot like Cody, a team first guy. Maybe he won’t be quite as skilled at first, but then again, we probably won’t need him to be. Like him, I really hope Cody is there for his freshman year, that would probably do more for his development than anything the coaches could teach him….

Very well versed kid with what sounds like a great head on his shoulders. The most impressive comments I heard were those that referenced how much he wants to be a Hoosier. Hit the weights Luke, glad you are on board!

Hahahaha! That just cracked me up! Nice one

  • What. A. Kid.

Really struck me, too.  Articulate and engaged for a guy that age.

I watched some YouTube video after listing to Luke and definately see the reason for comparison to Cody.  Heck, if you squint and use your peripheral vision he even looks like Cody.  He wears #40 and has a very similar build, minus 2 years of age.  He comes across bright like Cody and knows the game well.  He could really turn out if he has the drive to work on his game and grows a little more.  Imagine another 2″ (he said he was a late grower) and another 25 lbs, that would be 7′ 235 lbs as a freshman.  Guys like that don’t grow on trees.  He will also have more help than Cody does currently.  He will have Peter to share minutes with and then Hanner and Devin to work the paint with.  Then the next year add Trey and he’s not having to carry such a load.

I think there’s a tree in Wisconsin that’s been sprouting them for their football and basketball program.

I think it is just awesome he won’t be playing for Wisc.
everything is falling into place.  the foundation was set and has taken a couple of years to become solid.  The recruits know it you wait it is too late.

  • Great podcast, good questions, love the interviews with the commits!

This is exactly the type of kid you want on your team.  Glad to have him be a Hoosier.

  • Luke72

Thanks for the great interview! Love the way Coach Crean recruits kids that are no only skilled but intelligent. Here’s my bold prediction, Luke gets to play on a national championship team! Go Hoosiers!!

  • What type of pizzas is he ordering? Come on, guys…where were the hard hitting follow up questions like that!

All jokes aside, great job. Enjoy listening. Excited to see kids like this continue to put on the candystripes.
