So … is this kid a point guard? Looks like Blackmon-type combo guard.  Would love to pair Blackmon and Lyles with a fantastic distributor (to replace Yogi).

I would definitely place Russell at the top of the priority list for 2014.

With Blackmon and Lyles comind in, I think he would be a great compliment to these two. He seems like he could play the 1 or the 2 very effectively, but seems to have a knack for distributing the ball as well as being a shooter/slasher.

Since 2014 is looking like it will have at least 4 schollies, I would love to see a class of:
    – Blackmon (playing the 2)
    – Lyles (at the 4)
    – Russell (at the 1)
    – Lyle (at the 3)

That class would be tremendous since all are currently top 25 (Blackmon might have fallen out of top 25, not sure, and depending on which rankings site) I believe that class could be better than 2012.

I can’t wait to watch what IU Basketball becomes over the coming years… #hoosiernation

  • I think he’s a combo and a very good one at that. I went and watched his open gym (Crean was also there) last week and this kid is a special talent. He’s a great shooter (quick, efficient release) and also crafty off the dribble.

Thanks for the insight, Alex.  The combo-guard comment wasn’t meant as a knock, but was unsure of what his role in the offense would be (esp. since we already have Blackmon).

I personally feel like Crean’s pursuit of Cliff Alexander is more important to IUBB future than JaQuan Lyle, even though even did have a pretty sick high-top fade.

I am looking forward to …..
+ IU landing that big out of state recruit.
    + The 2014 class arriving
+ Our PG problems to be solved
+ Seeing who is the first national top 5 non indiana recruit we land.

The kid is smooth. His moves are effortless. His shot is quick and he seems good at creating separation to get his shot off. I have to agree that he and Blackmon in the same backcourt would be pretty awesome. But 2014 is sooooo far away!

    Yes. but can he shoot?
