Indiana interested in 2013 Flint Beecher point guard Monte Morris

Another 2013 point guard has piqued the interest of Indiana according to our friend Jody Demling of The Louisville Courier-Journal.

Monte Morris, a 6-foot-1, 160-pound floor general from Beecher High School in Flint, Michigan told Demling at the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando that the Hoosiers are recruiting him.

Michigan, who is considered the favorite for Morris, was the first Big Ten school to extend a scholarship offer. Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Iowa State, Syracuse, Georgetown and Kansas are also in the mix.

Here’s a look at Morris from a 70-66 overtime loss to McBain in the MHSAA Class C semifinal from our friends at UMHoops.com. Morris, who wears No. 11 in white in the video, finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Looks like Yogi without a jump shot. Shot is flat. Nice release though.

It’s hard for me to believe that coach is ever going to a be late to go after or take notice of a player. This doesn’t feel like it matches his MO. He tends to identify fairly early-on which player he is after. There are a lot of teams to fight past on this recruiting list.  But then again, he’s already done a few things in the recruiting world that have amazed me. I wouldn’t put anything past him anymore. As momentum continues, I feel that no player will be out of reach.

He’s certainly athletic and can fly around the court… Really undisciplined though, very raw talent with upside.  Looks like he hasn’t been coached very well thus far. If that kid could use a shot fake and play off of stops he would tear everyone up.

Am I the only one who has noticed how many times Central Michigan has popped up in the lists of these recruits?  It’s like Dan Majerle is back up there.
