Video: Hanner Perea Highlights at adidas Invitational

by in Video | July 11th, 2011

LaPorte La Lumiere and Indiana Elite forward Hanner Perea is garnering national attention for his play at last week’s adidas Invitational including being labeled the “premier interior athlete in the 2012 class” by Rivals.com.

In addition to our highlights of Perea in super pool play versus Connecticut Basketball Club, Dream Vision and the Atlanta Celtics, Inside the Hall compiled video of the talented IU commit and Colombia native from three tournament games from Friday and Saturday in the embedded media player below. (Note: You can expand the video to full screen by using the arrows in the bottom right hand corner of the player.)

You know Hanner has more offensive game than he has had before. Not sure why the one kid even jumped on his drop move @ the 35 second mark

It will be a nice change of pace to not have our big guys only be able to do lay ups.  It will be something special with Cody and Hanner are on the court at the same time.  There will be some dunking with authority that we haven’t see at IU in a long time.  Gone will be the days when every opposing team scored at will on us in the post.  I just hope he learns how to stay out of foul trouble.  His energy is off the chart, but it also causes him to over commit at times.  He will bring the fans to their feet and the house will be a rockin!

I know everyone will love the little running hook (and I love to see it too) but what I really want from Hanner is visible from 1:16 – 1:25

Influence a shot in the lane, tip the rebound out to Yogi, then watch Yogi fly away at breakneck speeds, then lob a pass nicely to Hanner (who runs the floor nicely) and throws it down HARD…

    …is it 2012 yet?

I see special things happening for him and IU in the near future.

If we still had the rims and backboards of old he would break those like Shaq did and Shaq’s record for the most number of backboards destroyed would be shattered along with those backboards.

Better have a backup rim and backboard for the backup rim and backboard. I can already hear the IU faithful going nuts.

Can’t wait for him to develop more of an offensive game but at the same time as soon as he does he will be taking it to the place where they pay you rather handsomely for it & no I don’t mean down south at the NBA developmental team even if would be more money . Maybe then the ” Crean can’t develop a big will be laid to rest “

You just don’t see spring like that in a 6’9″ dude.  Fast forward to his soph year when he’s put on some additional weight/muscle.  He’s the lunch pale, bad ass we’ve been looking for.  He’ll just patrol the lane swatting shots and making people uncomfortable.  Every once in a while he’ll have a send-a-message dunk that will jack up the crowd and have the guys at the end of the Northwestern bench pee themselves.

He has far better hands than a lot of the foreign big guys have.  You don’t see him fumbling passes (like Tijan, Bawa, etc…)

Someone is teaching Hanner very well. That drop step is already average+ for a high school senior. And it’s something that isn’t being taught to most 6’8″ athletic freaks. If Lebron had that move he would be unguardable. If Hanner can develop an average jump hook with either hand and he continues to improve his mid-range jumper the kid is a lottery pick in the 2013 draft. That video was by far the most impressive that I’ve seen from Hanner.

He has come along way..  I bet he ends up being our best player out of the group.  I has know idea he could shoot like that from the line.  I would have guessed him to have still been raw on the offensive side.  I am pleasantly surprised.

exactly what I was going to say……best reel I have seen from Hanner…..those free throw shots were under control and will not need a lot of tweaking.  It’s invaluable that him, Yogi, and Hollowell get this much experience with each other before the next level. ONE MORE YEAR!

I’ve been thinking to myself from video to video, Yogi to JH to HP, that each one is going to be the best player out of the group. They’re all so impressive and developing as basketball players. This class is going to be the difference maker because of the amazing versatility and total package that they will bring. Yogi the winner setting up players for easy baskets, pushing the pace, and popping his fast j, JH potentially the next Cheaney leading the team in ppg, HP making momentum-changing plays like the swat, running the floor and receiving a Yogi oop.

HP is obviously being coached up his shot and moves in the post are light years ahead of last summer.

He is really improving each month.  Love it!  Hopefully he can control his foul issues that he ran into with last weekend’s tournament.  Got to have him on the floor :)
