Indiana sophomore guard Maurice Creek met with the media earlier today at Assembly Hall to discuss the stress fracture he suffered in his right patella during Saturday’s 80-61 win over Michigan. Video of Creek’s comments below, courtesy of IU Athletics:

The smile after Bob Kravitz talked about going to the draft this year tells me all I need to know.

I thought he handled himself pretty well and didn’t let the disappointment rule the day.

Wow, this kid is pretty amazing. If anyone can handle this, it will be him. Very mature, very confident and very humble at the same time.

Our thoughts are with you, Mo. You’ve chosen “onward,” and we’re all with you. Go, Mo, go!

What a class kid! He nailed it when he told the team to play the game like it was their last. Not a bad motto for anyone. His continued high character inspiration is a big plus. Hoping Coach Crean’s efforts ro get him another year work out! On the court, in the classroom, or in the future in the board room, Mr. Creek has an outlook that you want on your team!!

I feel horrible for Creek, his family, the program and CTC. Of all the hardships the program has had to deal with the last 3-4 years, we get a kid to help speed up the rebuild and this is what happens. I said it when the original injury happened, that it would set the entire program back at least a full year.

I have the so much respect for Creek facing the media and answering the questions. This kid can still have a solid career at IU and with some luck maybe still see his NBA dreams come true. I just keep thinking of Creek as a senior with all this behind him leading the team in a tourney run. He deserves that to happen and I hope it does.

If the NBA doesn’t work out, I would love to see this kid on the bench as an assistant some day for IU.

It will almost tick me off if there’s anymore dogging it the rest of the year. How could you not give full maximum effort when you look over to the bench and see Mo with his knee in a brace for the second time.

Man I loved Mo before all of this, and now I love him even more. What a stand-up young man. I now have no doubt after having listened to him speak about this injury that he will do whatever it takes to come back! We’ll all be waiting Mo….get better soon.
