Video: Gary Harris at Flyin’ to the Hoop

Here’s a more complete look at the game of 2012 Hamilton Southeastern guard Gary Harris, courtesy of CityLeagueHoopsTV. This video was filmed last weekend at the Flyin’ to the Hoop event in Dayton, where the ridiculous dunk that we posted yesterday was also shot.

It’s hard not to fall in love quickly with Harris’ game as he displays excellent court vision, stellar ball handling, explosiveness off the dribble and an ability to finish with authority at the rim. In other words, he’s exactly what any coach covets on the recruiting trail:

C’mon Gary, join the Hoosier Nation. You will fill out the 2012 class.

I fear he will slip through CTC’s grasp and head north to Sparty on. I hope I’m wrong, as he’s the kind of player IU badly needs, but what are we really going on to justify our recruiting optimism? A few comments that he had noticed what Crean was doing and that we’re going to have a good thing in Bloomington?

Hasn’t he had multiple visits? I’d call that optimistic. He also has familiarity with several potential teammates.

Sure MSU is a good choice but not over Indiana if you’re from Indiana and get a chance to join the 2012 crew. Then if you don’t go pro you have the 2013 and 2014 guys coming in after you. Your team will be better than MSU at that point.

I cannot pin point who Gary Harris reminds me of but my first thoughts are:
+ EJ …strong build, plays above the rim
+ Michael Finely long, bouncy, very smooth

Could care less if he is one and done would take IU to a Final 4 with the pieces they will have.

Rudy Gay is what he’s screaming to me.

Joining the best IU recruiting class in years…..$25

Playing in the best college basketball town in America……$35

Restoring a historic program to National Championship status with Indiana players…….Priceless!

Gary you are the key to the 2012 class which will be etched in Hoosier history forever.

We are pulling for you man, so please bring your talents down to southern Indiana.

Looks like a phenomenal talent. Has very good athletic ability and seems to have a laid back demeanor (he could have pumped his chest or taunted the player he posterized, but he didn’t). I would love to have him. I am also a big Hollowell fan, so I would be happy with either, but this kid is definitely a difference maker.

How could GH not want to go to IU? Pitino has NO Indiana kids as recruits so who cares what he is doing down there. The southern and northern Indiana borders are closed. IU will have the #1 class in 2012.

no reason why top kids don’t go through the offical visits then make a decision like zeller. i wouldn’t jump the gun to fast
