FYI everyone and Coach Crean. I am NOT changing my avatar nor my name until I am convinced Crean is a better Coach than Mike Davis and not until IU beats a good team on the road and at home.

The ONLY good teams that qualify are: Wisconsin, OSU, PU, MSU, and Minny
I eagerly await the minute after so I can begin my ‘pre-written’ posting of Crean’s performance.

I agree but I may add Illinois to that list just because I hate them.

Freaking PATHETIC in-game coaching. Nuff said until TMA!

  • Kelin CreDavis

Ace…I thought about Illinois but weber is their coach and we almost beat them last year…it would be like Mike Davis outcoaching Crean….big deal!

    One more thing….prediction…

    The Minute After….324 comments!

My God, I cannot imagine why Crean would trust Creek or Jones in the last five minutes of any game. Creek just isn’t right, doesn’t seem to have confidence out there, and if anything, it seems like he’s getting more uncomfortable moving around on the court, not less.

Jones, on the other hand, just can’t hit a free throw at the end of a game (you almost know when a rally is over when he’s lining up to shoot from the charity stripe), and never seems to cover on defense when he’s supposed to. Although, to be fair, a good number of guys on the team seem to fail to grasp that concept.

Lower turnover night, but only because the stat sheet doesn’t count horrendous shots officially as turnovers, but we must have set a record for off balance shots while falling down this evening.

Well, where normally I have always enjoyed your posts, this is pathetic and sad.

  • JerryCT

    I cannot believe we ;

    + started Creek
+ assigned him to Burks for christ’s sakes
+ yanked him after he was lost on D
+ only to put him on Higgins to be beaten for 6 points w the game on the line

If Elston does not want to get back on D, head down , jog back ………. then he should sit like he did

  • Kelin CreDavis

Surely you are referring to the game….as pathetic and sad. This is the nicest post I am posting all night…..

Seriously? I am sure you have many great reasons why CTC is blowing these games. The fact remains… WE DON”T HAVE THE PLAYERS TO WIN GAMES LIKE THIS YET.

  • Aceman_Mujezinovic_07

    Jerry,

It’s very confusing why you would say that about Elston. The guy hasn’t played more than 4 minutes in a row all freaking season and he has no wind. Then, in this tournament CTC decides to play him for LONG stretches and, yes, he was gassed and couldn’t make it down the floor. I saw it coming two possessions before that one and he was even looking at the bench as if to say, “I’m done”, but no one else notices?

Then, why punish him for one silly mistake for entire half when CTC lets Watford, Creek, Jones, Hulls, etc. do the same FREAKING thing only to play more and more and more? I don’t have a problem with yanking a guy and punishing them for a mental error, but for Pete’s sake, BE CONSISTENT ACROSS THE BOARD!!!

It’s ridiculous. It sends the wrong message to players, fans, current recruits, future recruits . . . “If you are coach’s favorite you can get away with murder, but if he doesn’t like you, you won’t be able to stay on the floor!”.

It was just one of his abundant coaching mistakes during this tournament. No consistency at all! No consistency with cohesive lineups and substitutions. No consistency when sticking to offensive plays and sets. No consistency of sticking to players who were matching up well against their assignments. The ONLY thing he did that was consistent was continue to sub like the mad hatter and pull good lineups out after good runs, stick with the same boring defense the entire tournament until it was way too late, and continue to play guys who were obviously outmatched.

This was a poorly coached tournament. Maybe he has a reason for coaching so stubborn with who was playing and what defense they were playing, though I’m not sure what it could be, but something has to change.

Ha, the announcer during the Butler game just made the statement, “You don’t play at Butler if you can’t guard”.

Man, that sure isn’t the case with IU right now.

I can’t wait to see the post game presser or the transcripts to see if someone finally flat out asks CTC why Elston has such a short leash compared to other, even less productive, players! The boy has no leash. He’s restricted to the dog house unless he brings dad a golden bone!

Your comment on favorites is on the money. The postgame commentary seems to always be “well, we want Verdell/Maurice/Christian to be aggressive in those situations.” I call BS – we want them to create, not foolishly challenge double teams, run straight into the teeth of a defense, or take low percentage shots.

I used to think “Bad Dumes” was all on Dumes, now I’m not so sure. Seems like Crean operates with a handful of guys who are allowed to do whatever they want, without accountability. Clearly, the team can live without Creek or VJ on the floor – it seems to be the time when the team makes a run.

  • Kelin CreDavis

I want the elston question asked, Mo Creek questions, 2/3 zone questions, and about 80 more.

  • Aceman_Mujezinovic_07

Two games, two 0 for 2 trips to the FT line in the last couple minutes (VO last night & VJ tonight) only to see the other team go down and get layups or dunks. That is the most sure fire way to kill your own momentum in the history of the game! Maybe we should be working more on FT’s than the “dribble-drive”?

Two games, two straight nights where the opposition gets backdoor or blow-by plays for dunks or layups at crunch time. Maybe it’s time for some other guys to be “finishing” the games?

Two games, two nights where IU falls behind with lackluster D and seemingly mindless and heartless play only to try and rally in the final minutes. Maybe the pregame preparation and pep talk should be done with a little more thought and fire?

I’m just pointing out the obvious ones. Anyone have some more???

  • Aceman_Mujezinovic_07

Maybe he hasn’t realized that none of those guys are Dwayne “freaking” Wade??? There’s not a player on this team who can win you a game single-handed, but there are enough on the team who can lose you one.

More team ball and less favoritism. I like it.

  • Aceman_Mujezinovic_07

I would like to see about 4 straight reporters ask the same question over and over again to see if they can get a straight answer and less of the “psycho-babble” we heard after last nights game.

    NO MORE MORAL VICTORIES!!!

13th….who or what do we need….

    1. We were the bigger team
    2. We were the deeper team
    3. We were as athletic or more athletic
    4. We have more shooters
    5. Experience isn’t an issue

What am I missing here? Do I have to wait til 2012 to enjoy watching games? This is the Mike Davis help is on the way that I don’t buy at all….So bringing in Freshmen will help us win against a NBA level combo guard and a bunch of role players? That’s all Colorado had…..

  • Bryan

    Are those questions:
    1. Any thoughts about starting the rally unit, instead of letting your current starters start slow?
    2. Your players are decent about going for deflections and steals in the open court, but bad at defending half court sets. Why don’t you dial up a full court press more often?
    3. You have a former Colorado assistant coach on your staff. Did any direct information he had on those players come into your gameplan at all?
    4. Do you like preseason tournaments at neutral court sites?
    5. Why was Watford on the perimeter until the last 10 minutes of the game?
    6. Do you think Maurice Creek has improved since the start of the season? Is his injury getting worse? He seems to have no lift on his shot.
    7. Why are Hulls or Roth never positioned to take advantage of Watford setting up down low?

  • guest

hulls gets benched a lot for d lapses but gets brought back into the game because even with his defensive liabilities, have you watched the offense when he’s not in there? i havent either because there is none. Now creek and jones on the other hand, they have been killing us both offensively and defensively. I am not arguing that elston should not be playing, he should be playing as much as anyone, but if you watch the games, Hulls gets pulled a lot but spends less time on the bench because of stagnant offense and gets put back in.
