We committed 28 fouls? Good grief.

Over the last two seasons this kind of game would have been lost.

I can’t agree more–VO is the reason we won tonight, it’s going to be great watching him turn into a star!

Well, Charlie Brown, technically we were whistled for 28 fouls. The actual number committed may have been more or less;) Hahaha. Were you able to follow the game in real time? The final couple minutes were surreal (couldn’t attend live…radio broadcast).

I agree I knew when he was coming here he was going to be something special. He was on a awesome high school team that did not need him to score. But if he had to he did. People do not understand that sometimes. Him and Sheehey are going to both be really good.

I watched the game on BTN online–the first 35 minutes or so of the game reminded me of Crean’s first year, then the IU team we all hoped for showed up. VO’s play was not only athletically great, but his mental toughness was contagious. This team can’t let games against D1 talent get into the area this was, but it was nice to see that they didn’t just give up like they did in the past. Once we get VJ and GM on the floor things will, hopefully, flow a lot smother than they did tonight. It was nice to see that we seemed to be hitting a pretty good free throw percentage which helped to offset some of the turnovers and fouls.

All you need to know about tonights game:

36-37 minutes of sloppy, uninspiring basketball. We were physically outplayed, did not move the ball well and could not hit anything from anywhere on the floor.

VO decided he had enough. And in the last three minutes he…

-hit 2 pairs of free throws and did so with confidence
-nailed a huge 3, got fouled and hit the ft again to tie it up
-provided one nasty shot block with 1.4 seconds remaining
-forced a Ferris St player to hang in the air for too long and time expired

And half the crowd left before the last few minutes. What a finish they missed!

No I just saw the stats. It didn’t sound pretty.
