Following IU’s seventh practice of the season, Tom Crean met with the media (a few of us were also present for practice) to discuss a number of topics. Video is available in the embedded player below, courtesy of IU Athletics:

(Editor’s Note: The specifics and details of today’s practice were off the record, so we will not be able to answer questions or provide additional information on what was observed.)

Some of the comments about Guy kind of scare me. “dribbling abouve his knees, traveling, standing straight up” Sounds a lot like someone else we know and love.

  • When he gets tired, he stands straight up. When he gets tired, he dribbles the ball up above his knee. When he gets tired, he sometimes might travel. But you put that kid a couple of weeks down the road, a couple of months down the road, those things are going to be gone and he’s going to be playing pretty well.”

Guy is not Tijan… he’s not Olajuwon or Mutombo, but he’s not Tijan.

I like TP at the 5 for now. I will wait and see on Guy.

  • That’s fine, I merely wanted to counter your insinuation that Guy = Tijan.

Guy will never be a Tijan πŸ™

Ok, with the boards blowing up about IU vs. UNC for CZ I have offically entered the insanity relm of thinking about this all the time. It’s actually taking my thought time away from more important items like work and family. This better go well for us or my local ABC store will see their sales increase. We’re tracking flights? Roy is spending big time money for a private plane to see a kid who was just on his campus??? This is like Moses Abraham on steriods! At this point I don’t care of CZ becomes the greatest thing for IU or sits the bench for four years but I want him and bad. I’m in my late 30’s and feel like some teenage groupie who is waiting for the Friday night rock show.

I’m going to make it worse. If Cody commits, Yogi and Perea will follow and possible Hollowell. Can you imagine a team 3 years down the road that features: Cody, Etherington, Perea, Jurkin, Patterson, Lyles, Blackmon, Smotherman, Hicks, Hollowell? We might be challenging the “76 team. But that best case scenario. πŸ˜‰

that HAS to happen… it just has to…

This is one of the best posts I’ve ever seen. Nice work Marsh. Let’s just say I know how you feel.

  • you forgot Harris…homeboys making IU shine – they must get the sense that this would be special…..CZ following Jurkin and Patterson and esp blackmon and Lyles could be the catalyst….gotta love it

  • Rebounding, rebounding, rebounding….that and turnovers were a real weakness last year. Lot of pressure on Guy. Some guys respond and I hope this Guy does! Need to send him the Dennis Rodman book (minus the clothing/dress section)…

I hear you. I’m sick of losing in-state big men to the Carolina schools.

Long time reader, first time poster. To echo Marsh’s comments – I feel like a high school girl waiting on the prom date – really hope Johnny (my neighbor) asks me, but heard Tommy (the stud) is telling everyone I am his. My work productivity will triple once CZ makes a decision as I won’t be checking this website every hour on the hour for updates – crazy. Maybe overstating, but I can’t remember a recruit that potentially has such a far reaching impact – talent, impact on other recruits, etc.
As a Hoosier hoop junkie, I am highly encouraged by the “buzz” around the program – now and in the next 2-3 years. If IU was not playing in the toughest conference in the country, I honestly believe we would have a shot at The Dance – even drinking extra doses of the Kool-Aid, I see this as an NIT bubble team.

Marsh I agree. I was reading posts all day about RW flying in to visit CZ. The only things that are missing would be Chris Broussard coming up with his sources and a an hour long special called “The Decision”. I am keeping my fingers crossed that CZ will take his talents to B-Town next year!

It seems like ever time I hear CTC speak he adds “if he wants to see the floor” to any expectation of Jeramiah Rivers. I love hearing this. I don’t want to be too harsh here, so let’s just say the energy changes when he is in there. CTC wants fighters and I don’t always see that from JR.

Hercules vs TJ. Hercules looks a little wimpy!

The fact that I forgot Harris just shows how many top players that have IU on their radar. Most of them besides the ones already committed are IU leans. Also Darryl Baker, Zack Irvin, Brenton Scott, Collin Hartman. All indiana kids.
