Send along your get well wishes to Maurice Creek

by in Media | January 2nd, 2010

A couple of our readers have requested that we create a virtual get well card to pass along to freshman guard Maurice Creek as he recovers from a fractured left knee. So we’ve done just that. Post your message to Creek in the comments and we’ll send this thread along to our contacts at Indiana.

Good luck, Mo. You'll be back better than ever. Use this time to learn from Coach and it could be priceless. Be strong.

  • TheStillman

Get well soon Mo! I have no doubt the end to your career here at IU will be absolutely epic!! The future is bright for you young man! Keep your eye on the prize which is a final four in a couple years!!

  • trailrunner

Maurice, as a young boy I listened my beloved Hoosiers on a small radio. Sometimes I hid my radio beneath the blankets because I was supposed to be sleeping. I heard the exploits of the great Hoosiers. Rayl, Bellamy, the Van Arsdales, McGlocklin, Joyner. Then with a small television I was able to see McGinnis, Downing, Green, Laz, Buckner, May, Wilkerson, Benson, Abernathy, Tolbert, Turner, Thomas, Edwards. Through a large screen I enjoyed the feats of Woodson, Alford, Smart, Anderson, Bailey, Kitchel, Wittman, Cheaney, Henderson, Evans, Guyton, Haston, Jeffries, White, and Gordon. IU hoops is not just a game. It is a way of life. I dreamed of playing for the cream and crimson growing up. You will live that dream. One day your name will be hoisted to stand next to these legends. I wish you a full and speedy recovery. I know you will make us proud. Welcome to Indiana basketball.

    Maurice,

First and foremost — best wishes for a full recovery and long career in basketball. You are fun to watch as part of our teeam.

Second — You are still an important part of the team. I look forward to your support of your teammates as the season progresses.

    Get well and strong soon.

My friend, that was one of the most epic passages ever graceing the electronic pages of this wonderful sight. There are hundreds of middle-aged “boys” who hold those same memories and true beliefs in the beloved Hoosiers. Thanks for representing!

  • IU fanatic

Hope you have a speedy recovery. Look forward to watching you lead the Hoosiers next year.

“trailrunner” is exactly right, Maurice. I, too, have been a devote Hoosiers fan since I was a boy in the 1970′s. There’s something about Indiana. There’s something about Assembly Hall. There’s something about the candy-stripe warm-ups, the banners, the music, the band, the loyal fans. There’s something about the IU Hall of Fame portraits, the photos of the All-Americas, the fight song and center court. We live and breathe IU, Mo. It’s deeply a part of us and we feel a kinship with the coach, the team, the players, the tradition. You are clearly a gifted player. You’ll become a great player. But right now that’s unimportant. It will come. For now, and most importantly, my family and I wish you nothing but the best in your recovery and your recuperation process. Know that you’re in our prayers as a young man, first and foremost — as an IU player, second. We’ll be in Assembly Hall, with 17,400 of our closest friends, the day you’re able to return. Godspeed and good luck, Mo.

Maurice…………….You’ve had a tremendous effect on our recovering, rebuilding effort. Believe me the entire Hoosier Nation is behind you and wish you a quick recovery. I’ve watched and followed Indiana Basketball for 58 years and I have never yet seen a more quality individual on the McCracken court. You’re we could not ask for a finer person to represent Indiana University. Maurice, please look at the great individuals you are following at this great institution. Your place will be among them. Thank You and GOD SPEED in your recovery.

Indiana University has the best support system… I have been so impressed with you on the court, we've needed players like you as well as a coach like coach Crean for a long time, i wanted to thank you and your family for choosing IU. Watching the play from the bench this year mght give you another view of play on the court, use your recovery time to improve things in which you think need improving. Mo, I just wanted to say what a class act both you and your mother are. Your gift to IU and the fans cannot be measured. Your injury was a terrible loss to all of us but perhaps you can find some positives from it with your classes and learning from Coach Crean. Whether you know it or not, you are a inspiration not only to your teammates but also to many young Hoosier kids who dream of being just like Mo Creek. So keep your head up , your heart true, and show your team how it's done to be a winner. If you do this, your recovery will be faster than you think and your legend as a Hoosier will grow. Get well soon young man. We all can hardly wait to watch you play again.

  • because it's Indiana

I'm certain you realize that when things are going great you have a lot of people standing beside you. When life serves up some challenges a lot of that crowd disappears.

Know that we aren't going anywhere!

IU basketball was way down and YOU stood behind us. Now we get the chance to return the favor. Keep your eyes on the prize. You'll be back, and IU nation is with you for the entire journey.

  • steventexas

I'm an IU fan and attorney in Texas. It has to be tough to sit and watch but this will make next year all the more fun!
