I feel that Duke is the biggest comp but Indiana is right at the top. Other than Seton hall (who recruited him since his days at Montclair Kimberly) you've shown the most interest from early on. I go to most St. Pats games and Roshawn Mcleod was a fixture at most of his games and Coach Crean showed up for more than a few games himself. You should be in the running until the end.

I'm not sure if it's expectations of deep tourney runs going on, but landing a kid of Irving's talent would at least signal that IU is a contender for top talent again. I think people are edgy for that type of validation, versus the type of instant title expectations that Kentucky fans are guilty of.

I just hope that Irving is worth the risk of potentially turning your back on a kid in your backyard, i.e., Jeremiah Davis. Seems like he has tons of upside, but suffers by not having the last name of Irving or Teague. A bird in the hand?

I donot think our "expectations" are too high in wanting/expecting top 50 recruits over the long run. What I think is too high is our demand for the staff to reach this level immediately in the short run.

If we donot get him it will feel like failure when in fact we could be proud of the effort our staff put in to compete for him.

Right now the report says he will reduce his target schools so expect the tension to continue until signing day

Kentucky is getting every major recruit in the country this year and I would be shocked if they make the Great 8. My point is Irving is no Isiah Thomas. The kid will be good and we're all rooting for him but it seems like the expectations are through the roof.

I think we are all still suffering from post – 2008/09 stress disorder.

Agreed… Mr. Irving strikes me as a two year player (outside chance at 3). However, when combined with the talent influx from our '09 class, those 2 years would give him plenty of time to lead us to the late rounds of the NCAAs and completely change the nation's perception of our beloved Hoos. It's been said before, but Kyrie Irving is THE GET that could vault us back into the elite national recruiting picture.

Does anyone know how public attendance at the Elite 24 game would work? Rucker can only hold so many people…

I have said all along, I love this kid's game. I would love to root for him in an Indiana uniform. The fact he wants to hash everything out to make the best decision that will possibly affect the next four years of his life shows his maturity level and his patience to find a situation where he can succeed. The more I hear about this student/athlete, the more I like him. If I could make a personal plea, “Please come to Indiana, Kyrie. You will have a fan wherever you go, but I would much rather root for you to win.”

if we don't land Kyrie, the let down will be…serious. Like a five-month hangover.
We've been in with him for so long, he's practically a Hoosier already & I gotta believe our hard work is going to pay off. Those other schools can offer lots of things, but IU's a unique place & the role he'd play here, on and off the court, cannot be rivaled by ANY school…Kyrie: please commit!

I don't know how much longer I can take this. I'm way too excited about the possibility of getting Irving. I might have to take ITH off my list of bookmarks so I can focus on other more important things like fantasy football.
