Let me add one more name to the pot: ” Brad Beal” We were recruiting him and seemed to back off. He is the number one shooting guard in the class of 2011. After doing some research, I came away very impressed. The only reason I came up with for us stopping chasing him is cause of the SG we have. And the need for size.

aerialM may be right about the class of 2010. Other than Poole I don't see anyone other than Irving, Morgan and Williams coming to IU.

As of now I think Morgan and Williams project as role players (that can always change as they develop), making it imperative to land projectable starters in 2011, which I view as the pivotal class in the program's turnaround. If we get Irving in 2010 we're going to need bigs and scoring wing players from the class of 2011.

I'd like us to land both Zeller and Plumlee to go with Carlino and maybe Dawson. Plumlee looks like he's going to be a true center. Zeller projects to be a Jared Jeffries type big man (not saying he'll be that good, but close would be cool). Carlino, Hulls and Irving would make a great guard rotation. Dawson would add physicality.

The roster as of 2011 would then be:

Class 2008:
-- Jones
-- Pritchard
-- Roth
Class 2009:
-- Hulls
-- Elston
-- Capobianco
-- Creek
-- Watford
-- Muniru
Class 2010:
-- Irving
-- Morgan
-- Williams
Class 2011
-- Zeller
-- Plumlee
-- Carlino
-- Dawson

That's 16 players, so 3 would not be on the roster. I think the 3 players would come from a pool of Roth, Williams, Dawson, Creek and Muniru.

I would say if the roster looked close to this that we would be competing for B10 championships starting in 2010 and sweet 16 appearances (if not better) from 2011 and beyond.

here's to hoping we land Irving. I feel good about him. We got in early and haven't let up; he knows he is our #1. In the end, my gut tells me, the 2010 class will be Irving, Morgan & Williams. (Though, of course, I'd be thrilled to land Poole, perhaps at the expense of Williams or Morgan.) I don't think any of those guys are 1-and-done. If anything *maybe* 2-and-done but more than likely, the players we are going after are considered to be 3 or 4 year players at IU. Schollies are tight, we're in the midst of a program rebuild and we can't afford to have guys here for one year and gone the next. Though, of course, we'd make exceptions for certain guys like Gilchrist.
I'm not high on Dom Ferg. He seems like a prima donna more than anything. He's got talent but I wonder if his head is in the right place. Teague is a talent, no doubt. His jawing is troublesome, but if it comes from a chip on his shoulder or from an overwhelming competitive attitude, I could live with it.
I would like to see us go after some size, sooner rather than later. 2011 hopefully we add some big guys to bang down low!

As I have said in the past, I loved Kyrie Irving's game when I saw him play. He was on the court with Dexter Strickland and Mike Gilchrest and I thought he stood out. He had that "it" factor that makes great leaders, and he made everyone on his team better. I think Marquis Teague is an extremely talented basketball player, but as I've said in the past, I get the Allen Iverson, Stevie Francis, Stephon Marbury vibe out of him, and I would not be heartbroken to get Kyrie and not Marquis playing in the Hall. I am torn on that one, because he is an extremely talented Hoosier kid. Either way, he will make some college fan base happy as a player.

With that said, if Mr. Gilchrest wants to come and join Kyrie for a year or two, all the better. I have not seen Stacey Poole play, but he keeps rising in the rankings, so that says good things. If the Hoosiers can maintain serviceable bigs, have great point guard play, and get some great athletes on the wings, they have the key to winning in college basketball.

I liked what I saw out of Mr. Carlino in the highlight. He has a nice, quick release on his southpaw jumper It will be fun to follow him and the Bloomington South team. Do not forget we just gained a point guard from Bloomington South named Hulls, who has a good history of winning and is a solid leader and gentleman.

Ron I absolutely 1000% feel we do not need MT, Irving, and Carlino…those are three 6'2 guards, with two of the three having similar games.

You made a great point on why Crean cleaned house and finished off what Dakich started…..the attitudes, me first, 'talk a good game', guys who are playing for themselves. I think Teague has a larger legendary opportunity awaiting him at Indiana that could last for a lifetime, but Indiana fans are not fans of the me first guys….as one of your regional guys knows sherron wilkerson who had some of that and was never embraced by Indiana fans.

I really hope you are right about 2011…Dawson is going to PU, he said recently they are the leader. We need to break into that area at some point.
