I think it's important to note that sites like this exist as a way for all of us - all us IU fans - to be critical of the team, the program, the coach. It's natural. I don't mean "critical" in a snide way, but in a good way. I don't think anyone is above analysis & discussion (no coach, no program) and sites like this work because they help us speak to others and to share our views, thoughts, concerns, and dreams (Final Four in 2012) in a positive, friendly way. Obviously none of us pretend to really know the actual way Crean & the administration run things. But I think it's silly to pretend that we should all the time, every time, be supportive of IU without really taking a look at what it is we're supporting. (And as an aside, I hope recruits/players DO look at these sites. I hope, in this day and age, they are aware of things enough to perhaps make note of sites like these, discussions like these. It's a part of what it means to be at IU, to suit up for the Cream & Crimson. Lord knows there are tons of schools, where sites like this - let alone the numerous sites devoted to IU basketball - would never, could never, work because such a lack of interest, passion or commitment to a program...)

as far as David Williams, I want to be optimistic & I want for him to be an integral member of the team when he gets here...but if Tom Crean decides that he (Williams) has not, will not, improve and contribute, maybe the scholly gets taken back. It happens. How do you think Malik Story ended up in Bloomington? But I think he will improve. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the top 100 in some of next year's high school player rankings. it says something to me that he plays on an upper level aau team and that his teams, usually, win...

Ron thanks for that one, missed it.....Morgan, Williams, and Irving would be a solid 2010 class. Maybe the basketball GODS are back in bloomington and Irving is the final piece to the puzzle.

I think we are all assessing what we see of David Williams and for the most part I give good credit to many of the posters on. We give Crean and his staff a ton of credit and trust, and we give Williams a ton of props for his grades, size, versatility, but just as much as I love J. Hulls, NO ONE on the team now or to come is beyond criticism.......

I like, and want, to be positive about all things IU. I try not to disparage coaches or players. I am 100% behind the institution. But, I also like to express an opinion and provide my point of view. Without a point of view, what would the purpose of all this be? Nothing.

Therefore to Mr. Truth (I hate that moniker; its pompous and presumptuous) I say: If you don't like the game, don't play. If you do want to play then know that there are going to be disagreements and that nobody has a monopoly on the truth.

Look, I'm not one for posting at all on ITH, HN or IDS. I keep up with Hoosier basketball, football and almost all athletics. So, as alum I'm starting to be concerned with what I am reading everyday. In fact, if I was Coach Crean I would probably have enjoyed much laughter over reading the posts of some of the diehard fantatics on these sites and loving their gumption toward the program. Now, however, I hope he is not having the growing bit of skepticism in our fanatical fanbase as I am. Ron in Jeffersonville, do not even try to form an opinion based Coach and what you think he is thinking. Your basically jerking your own imagination into believing whatever you think is right. These opinions about what coach is thinking and what current and prospective recruits are thinking is getting old. I can't believe the amount of criticism David Williams is getting. I think people are getting confused in questioning his talent and not realizing by doing that we are again questioning our own coach. I wish this all would end. I wish we were speaking the praises of every recruit. Praise our coaches. Representing the school even in cyberspace will help with recruiting more than we think. Right now we look like a bunch of kids in a candy store screaming "I want this, I want that, I want, I want, I want."
We need to let our staff do what they do. If they don't they won't be successful and they'll be replaced. I understand we all have lost a lot of trust in our former coaches and administration. But its only been a year people. Take a day off or so of the websites and sit back and let what happens...happen. You might start actually being surprised, enjoy our program and not constantly be looking at everything in such a critical eye. I would bet a lot of bloggers view their own lives this way, and thats too bad.

First let me say I have faith in what coach is doing. But I don't think Williams has developed as much as coach was hoping for. My opinion? I think he will go to Junior collage for a couple of years, then come to IU. But I am not the coach, that's why he makes the big bucks lol.

It really wouldn't change the scholarship situation. As of right now, IU still has two openings for the 2010 class (3 if it chooses to over-sign by one). The problem is that if IU fills the spots in 2010, there will be no spots to be had for 2011 unless someone transfers or doesn't end up qualifying.

Here is an illustration of the scholarship situation: http://www.insidethehall.com/scholarship-numbers

Alex...refresh me, if williams is a redshirt how does that affect scholarships and coud that free up IU in that area. I absolutely cannot see Crean missing the boat totally on Williams nor could I see him pulling the scholarship. I saw the video on HT Dave, and he has some good physical ability but could use some red shirt time possibly.....

On another side note, head a guy on the radio talking about Kyrie Irving and he said the kid is an absolutely player and could get IU back to the tourney fast. He also said Irving should be ranked a lot higher....

You should watch the Williams clip on HT Hoosier Scoop. If anything it supports your hypothesis. I would be ok with him coming to IU for depth and APR reasons and maybe there is potential there. He does have a B10 frame.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Some people I've talked to think there is a chance he will never play for Indiana. But there's nothing concrete to support that. It's just speculation to this point.

Guys thanks for the update, glad to hear Carlino is playing well and Zeller and plumlee are still being recruited very hard by us. I like what I am hearing about Etherington I can see him committing to us.

Here is my recap of the hoosier shootout @ Warren Cent.:
1. The only recognizable coach I saw was Depauls Coach, but I don't know his name.
2. Mich. St and ND had a strong force their
3. Some AAU teams should dismantle, it was hard to watch at times
4. There were a lot of Odd AAU names.....like Tru Playas'
5. Speice was there strong but none of the big dogs were there
