Darwin Davis headed to Xavier

by Alex Bozich in Recruiting | June 23rd, 2009

Bloomington South guard Darwin Davis didn’t wait for the IU offer that may or may not have come. The 5-9 guard who helped lead the Panthers to a state championship and won the MVP award at Bob Gibbons’ Tournament of Champions, is headed to Xavier.

Davis also held an offer from Purdue and was receiving interest from Butler, Cincinnati, Iowa, Tennessee and IU.

  • I saw South play a few times this year and really liked D. Davis a lot. How does he stack up compared to some of the other point guards IU has been rumored to be in on for 2010 and 2001 like Teague and Irving?
  • superhoops
Can't win them all I guess.
  • johnny from louisville
this guy will have a terrific college career imo.

wish he would have gone to Butler, then i could see him play more. IU is primed to land Irving, so I dont blame the kid.

I leave town for THREE days and this is what happens......As president of the D. Davis fan club I am very hurt by this as I liked d.davis far more than Teague, he is a home 'town' kid, and he is a winner. Not sure what else I will do with my life now........damn that sucks.

My first thought when I saw this news was, "Oh God, Kelin will be so upset!"

But really, it's unfortunate, but there was no way we were going to be able to get all of the South championship squad.
  • Kelin Blab
Yeah I really was and I knew we were recruiting teague and irving and D.Davis didn't have to wait around for IU, so as I always say when we lose a guy I want....at least he didn't go to Purdue....

Also...PU has been dealing with rejection alot lately.....
Maybe the new kid TJ will pan out at south and IU be in the running...
  • Ron from Jeffersonville
I agree Kelin, this is a great loss. But, you have to believe the coach knows what he is doing. My guess is coach told him he wouldnt offer a scholly. So he took what he thought was the next best offer.
I wish him well, he is still a player from Indiana and he will do us proud

Kelin-I am a Davis fan also and know the family. Xavier is a great school and a great fit for Dee. Also who wants to be anyones second choice?
  • Davisfan
I'm sure Dee would get you an Xavier T-shirt!
