My guess is that tweets are in the same no man's land that text messages are in. I remember reading an article about Sampson embracing text messages as a way to have extended contact with recruits since he was under sanctions at IU (of course, Kelvin chose to text and violate the sanctions, but that's another story).

I'm pretty sure that the NCAA was going to add a rule to better govern text messages, if they've not already, but depending on the wording of the rule, from a legal standpoint, it might not cover twitter at all.

Twitter worries me about "interacting w recruits". This is an example of how difficult it is for the NCAA to limit coach/recruit contact.

So is a twitter a "call" or not ? How is it tracked ? How many are you allowed in a period to a recruit.

I am no fan of Sampson but he was 75% railroaded by the NCAA. About 60 of the 120 illegal calls were associated with 3 players and many others were under 3 minutes and according to the NCAA rules should not have been fully counted. Nevermind that IU was one of maybe less than 10 schools that track ALL phone calls ( mybe UCONN will add this to their TO DO list ).

So what are the rules on tweets and what is IU's position on it ?
