I guess today is the first day of spring signing. I did not expect any new additions for 2009 but I wonder what coach's goal is for 2010 and beyond in terms of numbers.

His track record shows a high incidence of graduation and 4 year players. This means more players in every class may stay longer at IU than at other schools like say, Memphis, OSU.

If true, that he expects each player to stick it out lets say an avg 3.2 years , then does this mean smaller class sizes each year on the order of 3 recruits per year. If so how much recruiting can we actually do in the next 2 years given our 2008 and 2009 class sizes ?

Anybody have a handle on this ?

I think Thomas was tabbed too soon as the next lebron, don't see that at all.......I blame the internet and the 'rankings' people for that one....just like the publication that ranked at kid the best 5th grader in the country and a few years later, the kid didn't grow much more but is not the best in his class...........

Cody is the last of the Zeller's and have seen him play ever since he was in 7th grade. Everyone said that he will be the best but as far as I can tell he will break the Zeller record of winning Mr. Basketball. Luke was so much better then Cody is right now and Tyler didn't really get it going until his Junior year, so as far as him being in the Cream and Crimson jersey someday, be careful what you wish for.

One thing I know, kids and those around them very well read many of these blogs and websites. It is rare .....very rare you see anything personal against a kid on ITH but it does go to show you how, in some small way we as fans play a role in what these kids think.......

I don't know Deshaun Thomas, outside of basketball, so I would only comment on his basketball skills and leave everything else alone. To be completely honest....most of us really don't care how any of the kids do in class...if Thomas held a press conference tomorrow saying he is coming to IU...99% of us would love it and not question his grades.

Sure we want good kids and want them to graduate for certain but we also want the states best in Cream and Crimson.....it all balances out....

I trust Crean to make the right decisions ....unlike denim shirt!

CraiginOR,

I'll also try to help fill you in on some of the potential recruits. I agree w/ Kelin, Boutte is not good enough to play at IU, but can play at a smaller DI.

Hill didn't show me much. Very slow offensively and defensively.

Turner can really light it up, and with lots of range!

DDavis is solid, maybe a bit small right now, but he's young.

Teague is smooth. Very talented.

As far as Thomas goes I'm going to have to agree with a few of you. If he decides to pursue IU then I'm all for it, but otherwise let him be. He is extremely tough around the basket (could use his right hand a bit more), and has a nose for the ball. Definately needs to develop an outside game or at least work on using the bounce to get to the rim. As far as the academics and the character ideas, we should probably leave that up to people who know him a bit more than watching him play basketball. Since those people have actually interacted with the kid.
