Crean: Dumes out for Wisconsin game

by Alex Bozich in Media | March 8th, 2009

Indiana head coach Tom Crean announced on Saturday that Devan Dumes will miss Sunday night’s game at Wisconsin with a knee injury.

Dumes was injured with 16:49 remaining in the first half of Indiana’s 64-59 loss to Michigan State on Tuesday and did not return.

I hope he is ok . Next year with more players everyone will play less minutes including Dumes. Not having him on the floor is basically what we will see next year about 60% of the time - IMO.

For kicks I put a spreadsheet together trying to allocate % minutes played for next year . I got Pritchard, Rivers, Watford, Jones, Capobianco at 50% or higher followed by Williams, then Story , Dumes at 40% or 16 minutes. Jones will make PT room for Hulls at PG but will displace Dumes' minutes at SG. Even then it's his scrappy defense that keeps Dumes as high as 40% . If he were more of a teamleader or automatic at 3's that would make a difference but I donot see that happening

I also tried to project points per game and defense per game and figure with lower turnovers and more offense we will avg 8 more pts per game and reduce opponets by 2 pts per game. Looking at the season this way we would win 18 games this year.
