Bawa Muniru attends Oklahoma State’s midnight madness?

According to a report on NewsOK.com, 2009 commitment Bawa Muniru attended midnight madness at Oklahoma State over the weekend:

The men’s basketball team will have six recruits in attendance. Three of them – Ray Penn, Roger Franklin and Fred Gulley – are already committed to the Cowboys.

The other three are former Arizona commitment Reger Dowell and 2010 recruit Jamison Sterns, both from Duncanville, Texas. The Cowboys are also expecting 7-foot center Bawa Muniru, who is reportedly committed to Indiana.

No word on how this affects Muniru’s commitment to Indiana, but it’s not often that a committed recruit attends Midnight Madness at another school. Perhaps the allure of the Briscoe girls has already worn off for Bawa.

Doesn't sound like Bawa Muniru is committed to me. I sure hope Tom Crean get to Muniru and discusses exactly what is meant by commitment.

If you commit to marry someone or commit to work for someone or COMMITTED TO PLAY for someone, you are not out looking for a thrill or better offer from someone else.

I suspect he has an “out” based on NCAA sanctions that would encourage him to have a 2nd choice selected now. Did he attend IU 's shindig ?

Also, based on the short stature of Travis Ford he knows Ford would need a ladder to “Neil Reed” him with a corrective choke …………………maybe he has heard something about past IU coaches

I would guess most, if not all, of our recruits have outs if the NCAA harshly sanctions IU. It would be natural for those who would leave to have other schools lined up just in case. I certainly wouldn't hold it against them to have other options just in case. I would guess potential new athletic directors might feel the same way, no firm commitments until we hear from the NCAA.

What is interesting is, if Bawa HAPPENS(I don't believe he will, but hey, anything is possible at IU) to decommit, it opens up a scholarship for a certain Dominic Cheek, or even a Chris Braswell(even though he is already committed).

Big deal. This crap happens all the time. Kids change their minds. Can you say Eric Gordon? Nobody around here complained when he decommitted from Illinois and came to us, did we? Who cares if he goes somewhere else? It will just open up another spot for Cheek to fill.

  • One other contributing factor is that IU probably wasn't going to have him sign until the spring. And with the uncertainty in the scholarship situation, perhaps he's just looking out for himself. Can't blame him for that.

I guess that the modern determination of what committing means, has led us to the point that commitment means very little. Maybe we are to the point that, unless they are signed, we just have to wait and see who shows up for practice.

  • Compared to what goes on in college football, this is nothing.

Yeah if he de-committs it would suck but we would have to bite the bullet on this one given what happened with EJ. As long as Derrick Elston and Jordan Hulls don't decomitt, I am happy….
