Dominic Cheek will visit IU on November 7

by Alex Bozich in Recruiting | October 19th, 2008

dcheek.jpgDespite the fact that IU has 14 scholarships occupied for the 2009-2010 campaign, five-star guard Dominic Cheek will visit Bloomington on November 7. Adam Zagoria of the Zagsblog has the details:

Fresh off his weekend visit to Kansas for Late Night in the Phog, St. Anthony senior wing Dominic Cheek has set the dates for his last two visits.

After going to Villanova Oct. 24 and Pittsburgh Oct. 31, Cheek will visit Indiana Nov. 7 and Memphis Nov. 14, according to Ben Gamble, the associate head coach at St. Anthony. The NCAA early signing period runs Nov. 12-19.

Seton Hall and Rutgers are also in the mix, according to Zagoria. The scholarship situation aside, if Cheek wants to come to Bloomington, the coaching staff will make it happen. Adding Cheek would give IU the No. 1 recruiting class nationally and speed up the rebuilding process dramatically. In other words: as far-fetched as it sounds, let’s get this guy.

maybe bawa muniru will change his mind (Ok State?) and it'll open up a scholly ...
  • Without Bawa, IU will still have 13 players for 2009-2010. If Muniru decommits, Cheek would be 14, but you're allowed to oversign by one.

should be interesting to watch how that plays out -- i wish we also knew why he even attended their midnight madness?!?!?!?!

I wonder if Braswell would consider decommitting if a scholarship to Indiana was available

Cheek would be a great get for Creen...but with Hulls / Watford / Creek / Roth / Dumes / Williams / Rivers / Story and Jones all on the roster heading into next season...this may be guard overkill...

Muniru is a critical recruit because he provides size and depth for our front court alongside Copobianco / Pritchard / Elston / Jobe... Five big men gives us flexibility on the court at all times...and while we will run a 3 guard offense, it would be nice to have some big bodies to throw at Wisconsin / Minnesota / Michigan State and Ohio State in the coming years...
