Bawa Muniru now a Hoosier, so sayeth Scout.com

by Ryan Corazza in Recruiting | September 26th, 2008

Rejoice, Hoosier fans. According to Scout.com (via the Hoosier Scoop), this man is now an Indiana Hoosier:

Despite what he told Jody Demling about wanting to go on other visits and that his mind was far from made up, looks like Tom Crean and company (as well as four lovely coeds) wooed this young man from Ghana.

Sound the trumpets, we’ve got a big man with some upside.

    Outstanding ....... I hope it's true ........ if so .......... YAYYYYYYYYAYAAAAAAAAAAAA
  • How totally awesome is this!!!!
  • \end Dominic Cheek pipedream

    Oh well.
  • What about the Braswell kid coming in with Creek this weekend. Does this basically put an end to that? I don't know which one is better, just hoping maybe we could steal two bigs.
  • I'm not sure there's a way we could take Braswell. We're already at our max for the the class and as it stands, somebody currently on the roster will either be gone or walking on next season. And that's assuming the NCAA doesn't take away additional scholarships.
  • Do you think Braswell still comes on the visit, or would they just cancel it?
  • I would say he'll still come -- especially since he's coming with Creek and this weekend is Maurice's official I believe.

This guy looks like Dwight Howard but probably a lot less coordinated. Oh well he looks like a freak athlete so that's worth a few dunks every game.
  • peaychris
i think we need to keep these girls on the payroll... except the one on the end!
  • JerryCT
Doesn't it make sense now for Bawa to enroll at a Btown HS ?
  • Take a good look at that poll. I am stuck between Ohio State and Wisconsin. Doesn't OSU have that big coming in this season?
  • student
BJ Mullens. He's going to be a man inside, and the rest of their class is none too shabby... But more importantly, how did Crean this good of a class for 2009? Golly gee willikers.
  • Incredible. Who would have thought? (:
  • Hoosier76
Yeah, I played against BJ in high school. Hes very athletic and strong for his size. Hes got an extreme upside, and if he plays with intensity all the time instead of SOME of the time he will have quite the impact on the Big Ten and the nation.
  • DJW
    Wow...This is amazing news.

Just maybe, Crean and IU, will be the combination that will brings IU back into the forefront of College Basketball for years to come.

What an outstanding job he has done considering the time constraints, environment , and circumstances.

I wonder who, other than him, could have pulled this off?

    I'm jiuced.
  • Taskmaster75
Ahhh this is good, his 2009 class is a complete starting line-up, and alot of good people in it.

There goes my dream of getting Favors or Cheek, but thats just me getting greedy :)
  • JerryCT
What is wrong with a little greed ?

Any reason Muniru does not enroll at BHS South and play w Hulls for a year ?
  • DJW
    Jerry:

Could this be accomplished withouit a sense of impropriety?
  • jgongora86
I would like to see Bawa bang inside to get some points in the paint, but more importantly I would like to see him with a hook shot as well. Someone here said jobe could do well with a hook, the same can be said for bawa. What's wrong with the hook. I'm surprised I don't see it in the NBa anymore.
  • student
Which player gives up their scholly to allow Bawa to play?
  • HoosierSmitty
My guess would be Rivers? It's not like Doc can't afford to pay his kid's way. I know there's a pride thing involved there, but if someone doesn't leave the program, I would think it's Rivers if one is needed.
  • junkman
    Possibly Kyle Taber...

or we could be expecting someone else to leave before he comes in...???
  • Sallad
Has this been confirmed by anyone other than Scout yet?
  • student
    Rivals also broke the story.
  • Taskmaster75
So I guess im still confused about the IU scholarship situation. I know Dumes and Jobe are JC players, are they going to be seniors next season, do we have Taber's scholarship already covered? Answers would be great for my uninformed mind :)
  • student
We're overbooked by one scholly for next year. We'll either have to lose a player, or a scholarship player will have to be demoted to walk-on status.
