Barnstorming Tour dates announced

by Alex Bozich in Media | June 18th, 2008

According to our friend Chris Korman of the H-T/Hoosier Scoop, the dates for the Barnstorming Tour are just about finalized:

Aug. 2 or 4: Vincennes University 7 p.m.; Aug. 5: New Albany H.S. 7 p.m.; Aug. 6 : Carmel H.S. 7 p.m.

A fourth game, which would pit the new recruits against a team of ex-Hoosiers, might be played at Assembly Hall in late August. Admission to the games will be $5. All nine of Indiana’s incoming players who will be eligible to play next season are expected to participate.

Whenever a coaching change takes place, it’s never clear if events like this will continue, but it’s nice to see this will go on. Criss Beyers does an excellent job putting the event together and this year should be no different. And just like last year, Inside the Hall will be right there in the thick of things providing coverage for those of you who can’t be there.

i think the barnstorming is important and there is a mistake made in having 2 in the south--one of those should be in fort wayne and another in the region

Why can't we get a game in northern indiana?? There are a ton of IU grads in northwest indiana and especially Chicago that would be more than willing to make an hour long trip to see the Crean & Crimson.

not going north is really stupid-new castle-fort wayne-elkhart-east chicago

That is funny. Why did you leave off Ricky Calloway ? Larry Bird ? Jamarcus Ellis ?

Echo the sentiment about Norhtern Indiana. Seems like a big mistake
  • Kelin Blab
Did Ricky Calloway transfer??? was it Kansas??? I would have put Jamarcus on there but given he is playing at a Div III junior college international prep school I couldn't do it...

I wonder when he runs out of the tunnel for the first game at his new school and looks in the stands and hears the roar of 17000 people...only to realize someone has the IU game on their portable television....what will he think....
  • JerryCT
Calloway to KS where he got another ring.

At least in a smaller arena fans can read Jamarcus's tatoos more clearly. I always had trouble reading them on TV and the time I got to Ashall for the UCONN game. Why have them if fans cannot read or see them ? This is the real reason he transferred

This is awesome to see because Crean knows the tradition that we have and wants to keep it that way, but who will be on the team of ex-Hoosiers? The recruits could definitely win if it was a Davis or Sampson era team but they might struggle with a team featuring someone like Sheron Wilkerson.

If this 4th game comes to fruition, wouldn't it be a treat to see the General coaching the ex-Hoosiers?
  • Kelin Blab

  • If I recall correctly, they didn't go north of Noblesville last year.
