I see Maurice Sutton ending up at Villanova because he raved about how he love his visit and Coach Jay Wright while only saying the IU visit was just “Awright.”

Emmanuel Negedu will probably follow ex-AZ Assistant Pastner who recruited him for AZ and is now at Memphis. The only hope IU has with Negedu is if he comes to Bloomington because he has familiarity here because of his AAU Bloomington Team and/or because a fellow African Jobe has already committed to IU.

After reading about Sutton on Hoop Scoop the kid seems to have his head on straight and comes from a good family faith and foundation. I will give the kid a chance, given the things and kids this program has had to deal with in the past…………Mo Sutton…welcome to IU.

If you choose Seton Hall remember at one point they wore spandex uniforms

I don't think Crean tries to build teams like that. It just seems to happen with his up tempo style of play. I think any coach would tell you he needs players over 6-6 to be successful.

The thing is that next year we're not going to be that good anyway. If we wait until next year it allows us to go after walker, watford, and a better center. I'm just not sold on Sutton yet. His weight really scares me playing in the Big 10. Its going to be a couple years before he has an impact. We need to go hard after Negedu he's a beast.

Good point JCT, Yes we want big guys but if that isn't creans way of doing things then we will deal with it. I don't want big players just to have them….Now as far as Negedu…I want him in an IU uniform…

I guess one thing to keep in mind is that last year's Crean team had only 2 inside players taller than 6'6″ who averaged more than 10 minutes of PT , together the avg was 15min. To me this means we need to start getting used to most of the team being under 6' 6″ but w great passing, handling, quickness etc . That said if Sutton cannot run or handle he does not fit anyway no matter how tall he is.

I can see where you are coming from in that instance. I too believe that Sutton will be more of a project type (I believe more raw than Holman and with less of a ceiling) and won't have much affect (if any) on our team, so it may be better off for us to either lose out on him or wait and try to recruit one of the better available big men for next years class. Although he seems like a good kid (Crean's type of attitude) we are still in the rebuilding process so it doesn't make much sense to waste a scholarship.

I was indeed referring to Sutton, I don't know anything about the other kid. And just because he is tall does not make him good, or that he will have an impact. Ben Allen was tall, but he had no post skills (or any other skills for that matter), so he had no positive impact when he was in. A big man who has no skills is not good just because he is big, there is actually nothing worse than a big man with no skills. Him being on IU next year will have no affect on our record and he will not make us a better team, so to me, I would rather save the scholarship for a good player

Sutton averaging 18-12-9 , a state championship and ranked in the top 30 at his position I think Crean can take the chance on his development.

Will he choose IU however ? This will be tough against Villanova. Although orignally from Newark Seton Hall already has a big man so I think they would be out. 'Nova however has a stable and good team to put around him and its closer to home than IU. He gets PT either way but maybe he wants to win now vs later.

One thing to keep in mind is that Olsen might not care: He's old, just lost his entire coaching staff and he's likely entering his final few seasons in Tuscon.

How can you call a kid who is rated in the top 50 in his class not an impact player? Also how could he not have an impact in a front court that only features 2 post players (one of them being a freshman this year?) I think could would fit well into Crean's offense and would have more of an immediate impact (offensively and defensively) than Sutton.

Am I the only one that doesn't care if this kid comes to IU? Sure we need a big man, but if he isn't that good what does it matter? I would rather save the scholarship so we can go after better players next year and not settle on someone who won't be an impact player next year (if ever). Will IU be much better next season if we have Sutton than if we don't have him? No, they won't
