Derek Elston suffers torn meniscus

by Alex Bozich in Media | May 19th, 2008

delston.JPGAccording to John Decker of Hoosier Nation and various message board reports, Tipton (IN) senior-to-be and IU commitment Derek Elston suffered a torn meniscus this past weekend and will require surgery to repair the damage.

Elston had been playing AAU this spring with the Spiece Indiana Rising Stars for coach David Hamilton Sr.

No word on how long he’ll be out as Inside the Hall was unable to reach Elston or his AAU coach for comment.

  • Shoot, that can't feel good. How long is the expected recovery period?
  • jgongora86
He will be playing basketball around 6 to 8 months ( if you want to do it right and give a little cushion time before he can run up and down the court).
  • georgebizpro
If he uses a dynamic splint he'll be back sooner than that.
