It is entirely up to the University whether to release a player from his LOI, for any reason. Williams committed to MU because of Crean. MU, in good conscience, cannot hold him to his LOI, when Crean leaves. Most big-time recruits play at a particular school for the coach. Marginal players (Elston) stay at home and play at their University.

Well as for players that follow coachs you can look at it many different ways. Look at DJ White. He wasn't there for Indiana....he was there for Mike Davis, but weather it was the injuries or the fact he would have to sit out a year to transfer or what ever it was.....he grew an appriciation for Indiana Basketball. Where as Ellis was a negative cancer on the team once his coach left. KS and Ellis had deep ties prior to him comming to IU. I don't know its hard to say.
When you have a team with four players doing individual work outs I would like to see him come here. I think it would make up for the loss of Holloway. Crean's offense from what I see favors the gaurd spot so the deeper more talented guards we have the better.
It is going to be really interesting how this signing period ends. I would like to get Williams. It would be nice to get 6-10 Ben Eze.Josh Harrelson would be a nice pick up at 6-9 (a Juco with 3 years left). Somebody mentioned a guy at 7-0 that was interested in IU, but I have yet to get his name. I also think Bassett will be back on the team.

Bassett
Crawford
McGee
Ben Eze
Holman

Taber
Roth
Williams
Pritchard
Harrelson
Jones

That wouldn't be that bad of a roster.

I know the schools typically won't release a player to transfer within their conference but I thought they could go to any other school. If anyone knows for sure, please clarify.

That's why I included Vaden in my example. He got dumped on plenty. No, I've heard a lot of sentiment from IU fans that if you care more about the coach than the University, then you're not IU material and good riddance. It just always struck me as strange how that doesn't seem to apply to incoming recruits . . . when they end up coming. So for now the WIlliams story is all well and good and no one cares that he is only here for Crean. Ok, but you and I both know how long that principle will last . . . wait and see the reaction if Crawford or Holman transfers. I hope they don't, I hope they all stay, but you know a variety of fans will turn on them if they go. But again, it's ok for WIlliams to come only because of Crean and it doesn't matter that he had committed to the school of Marquette.

Sounds like IU is in really good shape with Williams. Early signing period begins tomorrow, FYI.

Seems a little different:
-IU kids can't go play for KS. He's not a college coach.
-The kid did never played for MU
-I think people are mad more at the fact that some of these guys appeared to quit on the team and, as more facts come out, they just seem kinda like bitchass whiny bitchy-bitches. I think if a kid plays hard and then decides, after the season, that his heart's not in it and he wants to transfer, it's a different deal.
