Yeah. Like I said Im a Knight faithful. Right now this has set us back 1-2 yrs. If we hire DD we are set back at least 5 yrs. My son is 8. I would like for him to see an IU championship before he is out of his teens. IU has struckout twice. Hopefully 3rd time is a charm.

Yeah, I was disappointed that in all that "journalistic digging", he didn't ask what he thought about Dakich. Or even tell us a funny story about Dak. But then again, it's Mike Greenburg. We're lucky he didn't curl up in a ball and whimper.

Mike Greenburg tried asking him about the question this morning on the radio, and Knight deflected it, saying he doesn't know enough about the situation to comment. Greenburg tried to press him, and Knight calmly reiterated that he had no comment on the situation and to get off it.

A couple of thoughts on DD:

It's kinda like taking a new job where there are a lot of women working...lots of nice looking women, and you are , btw, looking for a girlfriend/wife, etc. You're eyeballing a few of the real hotties, but there is an "average" girl in the next cubical. Low and behold, you begin chatting...you end up have lunch together a couple of times...she seems "nice enough"...you end up on a date together...sleep with her...start getting some feelings for each other...and BOOM...your in a relationship with your 4th or 5th pick. All the hotties know you are dating her and cool their enthusiasm, and you're stuck. Hard to explain, but maybe some of you get what I mean...kinda like "settling".

The other point on DD is that other than his marginal coaching win/loss record, there will be no one who will interview better for the job. He's smart, clean cut, loves IU, played for IU, coached for IU, and potentially may have recently won some significant games for IU as an interim. He's in the driver's seat for the position. It's back to my former analogy. It's a tough call. He's got a hell of a good chance to get the job. Knowing the IU admin, alum and that certain portion of the fan base, I bet he gets the job (unless the team tanks).

I would like someone to explain how DD is qualified to run IU as our next head coach. I'm a Knight guy but there are no realistic Knight discples out there right now that are qualified to coach at a top tier school like IU. Your graspign at straws if you try to come up with a reason. How do you think we got him as president of basketball operations in June? Nobody was exactly beating down his door to come coach for them. He is a good guy who hopefully will stay on in an asst spot or something like that. The next IU head coach shouldn't come from a coaching stint where he was barely above 500 and had 4 out of 5 losing seasons his last 5 seasons there.
