Gameday reading:

As always, your predictions and analysis are welcome in the game thread.

  • Greg
Thank you very much for that pic of Erin. She makes my stomach tingle like a high school kid. Go Hoosiers. Beat the Buckeyes and show Matta what he is missing out on. I hope that in respect for Dakich, the current staff, and the players, no Thad Matta chants break out tonight.
  • JamesHardy
"She makes me feel kinda funny...like when I used to climb the rope in gym class."
    --Garth from Wayne's World--

    'nuff said!
  • MPmike
I don't think this picture has done Erin any justice. This is not a very good pic of her. She looks alot hotter on T.V. Maybe, you need to find a better picture?
  • Luke24
Andrews is hot but I don't know about that picture.
  • DavidC
At least it doesn't focus solely on the face...
  • I'm not sure I know about you, then.
  • AndyZ
You should post a gratuitous Erin Andrews pic before all games. She is a certified honey.
  • Tom Coverdale IU hero
i predict a 76-62 win for IU tonight DJ having 18 points and 13 rebounds EJ 23 points and Armon with 14 and 4 threes.
  • Hoosier_Hound
Despite all the Sampson stuff, IU keeps winning. Meanwhile, OSU keeps falling apart. IU should win without any problems.

    IU 70
    OSU 58
  • ALH_00
I think there will be problems...I just see a lingering hang-over from the emotional week last week. That said, I think the home crowd and gym will put the Hoosiers over the top against a solid, but uninspiring tOSU team. They don't even know what winning a big game feels like 25+ games into the season. What a shame. (Not that I'll ever feel sorry for the Buckeyes). I don't expect them to come into Assembly Hall and get their first big one. Hoosiers squeak by...70-63
  • BrianK
I agree we should have a special Erin Andrews section. You asked awhile back ago about ideas for the site. There ya go lol. Along with the gratuitous pic of of her before each game. Makes me feel warm and tingly.
  • peaychris
i tell you ej is great, but he makes some really poor decisions sometime!
  • HoosierSmitty
Gordon hasn't seemed the same....already two missed 3s and a horrible game against Northwestern....
  • You spoke too soon.
  • TimEOBrien
    I guess hes fine now?
  • HoosierSmitty
Not quite...still out of control....but at least he's taken 3 shots already...he needs to be more involved, but slow down at the same time.

We have to get it to DJ somehow against this zone.
  • TimEOBrien
"We have to get it to DJ somehow against this zone."

It shouldn't be too hard, Stemler and Ellis have both missed DJ open in the low post already tonight
  • peaychris
#1 has been huge for IU this year. he is the unsung hero of the year IMO
  • briank
Since he has had that brace he hasn't seemed up to par as usual
  • TimEOBrien
I don't care how much he practiced it this week, Stemler needs to stop shooting!
  • JamesHardy
    I'll 2nd that...and 3rd it as well! Motion Carried!
    HE SUCKS!
  • peaychris
even though he hasnt made one yet, stemler looks better shooting the ball. it used to look like he had the yips. they said he was working hard on it.
  • Matt
I have never seen us miss so many open shots
  • TimEOBrien
2 nice out of bounds plays early. yay Dak
  • BrianK
hopefully Jordan can knock some down
  • HoosierSmitty
Hammer that down DJ! That's what I'm talking about!
  • TimEOBrien
DJ WILL have double double #18 by half time
  • TimEOBrien
Wrong! haha, not like he shouldn't have had it though.
  • BrianK
Im listening to this on yahoo sports but I can picture Stemlers surprised look on that foul as usual lol
  • Brad
is it just me or have we seen more ball movement so far this game than we have seen all year?
  • HoosierSmitty
I agree. Very impressive so far tonight. We're pushing it up and keeping Ohio State from setting up in the zone sometimes. Can't hit from 3 right now, but we're getting good looks and pushing it up the court. This has been exciting. I can only imagine what the score would be if we hit some open 3s.
  • peaychris
this team is getting stronger after each passing game
  • BrianK
Man I wish I could see this.
  • TimEOBrien
Stemler misses a shot, dives on the floor, causes a bad foul, and looks shocked/pissed that it got called. That sums up everything Stemler does in one play.
  • BrianK
    Lol 100 percent correct
  • peaychris
i wish they would fire greenspan and give coach Dak the AD position. this would be perfect IMO
  • TimEOBrien
Greenspan deserves to keep his job because he didn't want to hire Sampson and hes done so many other good things in other sports, just look at football.
  • peaychris
well he could have monitored the first investagation of samson better last year.
  • TimEOBrien
    true dat
  • BrianK
Hmmm thats an idea I havent seen
  • HoosierSmitty
Are you serious with the missed 3s?
  • peaychris
am i the only one surprised we are winning by 12
  • BrianK
Armon's has kinda blown past couple games
  • TimEOBrien
what? are you saying Armon has blown in the past couple of games? if so, i'm gunna have to throw the bullshit flag on that one, he had 24 against NU
  • BrianK
"blown up" lmao I forgot the "up"
  • TimEOBrien
ok, i didnt think you were that stupid
  • peaychris
i say it everytime i see it..... that GAY ASS big ten commerical where they are doing some spoken word thing has to go. i live in SEC country and my friends here make fun of that stupid commerical all the time.. MAGIC
  • Gordon has been super sloppy with the ball tonight.
  • BrianK
Now are you saying that commercial isn't hip and doesn't connect with teens like it's supposed to? lol
  • TimEOBrien
Spoken word is so hot right now, especially non-rhyming, non-creative spoken word. BigTen commercials, almost as embarrassing as the BigTen Network
  • hysteric
my god gordon is a turnover machine
  • JamesHardy
i'd say only 1/2 the TOs he has are really his fault...he doesn't get any kind of love from the zebras when he goes to the lane. He got MUGGED on a def rebound which lead to a Butler jumper from the baseline...he's been HAMMERED almost EVERY time he touches the ball. Go easy on the kid, you couldn't hang on to the ball either if you were getting sexually assaulted like he is. he's got a virgin a$$hole to worry about!
  • HoosierSmitty
EJ is 3rd in the nation in free throw attempts, I believe. That's plenty of love.
  • BrianK
We're getting the looks, we have to get those shots in.
  • BrianK
We need a half time pic of Erin Andrews.
  • JamesHardy
i got one in my imagination...but there ain't no way in hell you're gonna see it!!!!!!
  • HoosierSmitty
I hate to whine, but we should be up 20. Not a bad half, but we weren't that good.

The good and bad...in no particular order
1.) Gordon WAY out of control and not hitting 3s either
2.) DJ is playing pretty solid, but he's taken some un-DJ-like fall away jumpers
3.) Um...can you say 3-16 from 3 point land...and many are WIDE OPEN looks.
4.) Thank goodness for Armon Bassett.
5.) 6 guys with 3 plus rebounds is a rare bonus
6.) Ellis 1 assist and 1 turnover...just not doing anything anymore...
7.) Offensive rebounding has been impressive
  • JamesHardy
Watching these guys play really makes me enjoy the thought of Dak running this team. They MOVE the ball on OFFENSE and have played pretty decent defense so far. Not sure why Thomas was put in before Taber, but Dak finally realized that TABER is a PIMP! And did you hear Dak's interview with the "Goddess" at halftime...Armon's gotta be more aggressive...we're a better team when he is..." I've been screaming that since game 8 last year!!! I love this D-squared guy!
  • BrianK
We would end up in Davis scenario if we kept him as HC
  • JamesHardy
I have to respectfully disagree for a couple of reasons...
    1. Davis was not an IU "guy"
    2. Davis' agenda included himself using IU as a stepping-stone to get a gig in the NBA
    3. DD is an "IU GUY" which means he understands the program and the expectations that go with it.
    4. DD appears to have a "team" concept which is something that Davis NEVER had...(i.e. Bracey from half-court was a play drawn up...Vaden shooting everytime he gets it...4 guys outside the 3pt line and someone go one-on-one with your man and beat him to the basket without a teammate setting a screen or rolling to the hoop for a possible off. rebound) All of this was an integral part of KS's offensive scheme too.

With that being said, I would like to see DD step up and squash this thug immature BS i see out of Ellis, Crawford, and EJ. I can't remember which 3 or 4 it was on the EJ turnover that never made it past halfcourt, but the fact that they gave absolutely NO EFFORT at all to get back on DEF made me sick. DD needs to address that and if EVER happens again, there should be some "me time" on the bench for the guilty party.
  • kelin
    Ej....Three words....
    Pull Up Jumper.........

Damn Kid....You think you are going to go to the bucket against Dwight Howard or Marcus Camby all the time?

    Stop and Pop.....

I can see Matta's thoughts in his eyes......"This IU gig wouldn't be so bad"
  • TimEOBrien
Godd@amnit, The one IU game i don't get tickets to and they actually have a halftime show and it looks entertaining!
  • BrianK
ooo ooo They finally get dancing bears?
  • TimEOBrien
No, people on those springy stilts things
  • TimEOBrien
Stemler just did his impression of Shamu sliding onto land
  • BrianK
i've seen that one a million times. Along with his Emmy winning surprised looks of him recieving a foul within 2 minutes of him getting into game
  • HoosierSmitty
Nice EJ...let's drive in the lane with four guys instead of just pulling up and shooting it...
  • HoosierSmitty
Don't crucify but we need to BENCH EJ for the time being.
  • hysteric
i have to be honest...ej has a loooooooong way to go to be anything in the nba...imagine him being guarded by kobe...ej isnt going to be able to do anything
  • TimEOBrien
Old, bad, Ellis is rearing his ugly head again
  • BrianK
We been stripped and stolen from more than a Corvette sittin on a street in Detroit
  • TimEOBrien
    Suck it Detroit
  • peaychris
that could have been the worst call ever!!
  • TimEOBrien
No, that series of events was the worst call ever, look at how pissed those TeleTubbies are!
  • BrianK
    I love those teletubbies
  • BrianK
Well not really they give me the creeps. The real ones do. They look like Stephen King creatures
  • peaychris
DJ has taken some REALLY high percentage shots tonight!!
  • TimEOBrien
And it appears Taber and Alfeld have a DJ Dunk Dance
  • BrianK
Wow these ref graduate from Ohio St or what
  • uh, note to dak, can't play the 2-3 zone with DJ and Deandre in at the same time.
  • TimEOBrien
    Taber Time
  • BrianK
Finklemeier time. had to say. Never been said b4 I wan't to be the first
  • Please, God, be the last.
  • TimEOBrien
    I love Armon
  • TimEOBrien
Hes my new favorite Rod Wilmont
  • dabig
He's the most improved since the start of the season. I keep worrying about his bone chips, though.
  • Scott
Armon needs to shoot more. Gordon needs to sit down and rest for a while.
Our shooting sucks tonight. I don't know what the deal is.
  • briank
Well I gotta race home from work and hopefully catch the last 2 minutes on tv sucks since its not on radio in louisville/ southern indiana area
  • TimEOBrien
If Brent Musberger loves two things its barbershops and bars, or so I'm learning. I thought it was Michigan and Ohio State and not his Alma Mater Northwestern, but that must just be during football season.
  • hysteric
dj has been horrible defensively today
  • Scott
The whole team looks horrible with the excepting of Armon.
  • Scott
    sorry---exception
  • jgongora
I know he's not going to, but Eric Gordon should stay another year. To have better ball control, and learn to shot a jumper. That can make a diference from becoming a solid contributer to a star in the NBA.
  • peaychris
I really enjoy listening to Steve Lavin and Erin Andrews, Musberger is really dragging down the flow
  • TimEOBrien
BLASPHEMY! Musberger is the new voice of the BigTen, or what Wayne Larrivee used to be. I may be biased, my dad is an NU grad so i love Musberger.
  • It could be worse: we could be Vandy fans, and we could have to deal with Jimmy Dykes next.
  • kelin
I REALLY look forward to ITH's post game blog....I have a lot to say about .....
    *Deandre being worthless
    *Kellen Sampson
    *EJ
*Coaching at IU now and to come

    ooooo I can't wait...
  • TimEOBrien
    Lets beat OSU first
  • peaychris
    well i will take a W
  • Dan Dakich seems like the Bill Richardson of IU coaching candidates...
the most experience in the race, but somehow doesn't seem "presidential".
  • TimEOBrien
i.e. has a giant bald spot
  • JOe Bob
Is Musburger working as DD's agent? He sure as heck was lobbying
    him for the gig.
  • HoosierSmitty
I said in earlier threads that we needed to play well tonight..and we certainly didn't do that...We won, yes, but I have serious doubts about our ability to win @MSU and hold on to a share of the Big Ten title....Either Purdue or Wisconsin will out, so these last two games have been a big disappointment. Nice Ws...but not really pleasing heading in to a tough road game against Michigan State.

DJ was subpar for DJ, EJ was flat out horrible and out of control getting mostly garbage points from the line late in the game...

Armon was it tonight...flat out IT...that was all...
  • jgongora
I'm ok with this win. If you look at their offensive routes, they had a a ton of open looks. They were just not shooting it well. Your right, they will have to shoot much better than that against Michigan State, but you got to wait and see.
  • Is it possible that this IU team does just enough to win each game, nothing more?
  • HoosierSmitty
I guess that's better than in years past...(i.e. Mike Davis era) where would play great and find a way to blow it at the end (i.e. Mike Davis at UAB v. Memphis)
  • JamesHardy
i got a feeling that we are just playing up to our competition at this point. i could be wrong, but I think as the stakes get higher, you'll see these guys step up.
  • HoosierSmitty
Did EJ seriously play all 40 minutes tonight? That is horrible. He played like crap. I don't care how much of a "superstar" you are, sometimes you need to have your ass benched...and sometimes you just need to get a breather....
