The solution to our offensive problems are simple SET A SCREEN FOR A SHOOTER. All of this one on one shit is killing me. The only reason why we have won this year is because most of the opponents have no athleticism. Gordon needs to watch some old tapes of Alford moving without the ball.

  • Kelin

This one is clear….TODAY IU WAS OUTCOACHED…….
    1. Thabeet is 9ft tall and gets tired thinking about running, yet we may have had 4 fast break points.

    2. The last time this team hit a 3 was when Rip Hamilton was there…why not a zone?

    3. I would say EJ for the season may have had 5-7 screens set for him…TOPS.

    4. DT and DJ could play together better if …..they actually worked together. DT cannot score often with just moves, but if we actually used (dare i say it) screens to help get him open…it might just work.

    5. for future reference….we need a pure point guard.

    6. Interesting thought, what is Matt Roth going to do at IU? Maybe he BYOS (Bring your own screeners)

    * Tough loss, a good win at Wisconsin could help, still happy (not satisfied) where we are now in the season.

    * Billy Keller Pacer ABA great said here in Indy on Friday, EJ is a great great player and shooter but needs to work on the …..Mid Range game and ball handling. Welcome to your sophmore year EJ.

I just Googled “motion offense basketball” and got 91,000 hits. Just a suggestion . . .

Wish we had these guys at full strength. Since we don't have a signature win, even pulling out a W this afternoon is tainted. Nonetheless, we will continue winning the games we are supposed to win.

    IU 82
    UConn 70

    I've got IU by 8.

  • peaychris

I love my job, golf pro in the winter. i can watch the game while i am working !!

    iu 81
    uconn 69

  • peaychris

    dj looks so small!

  • peaychris

great start but another ticky tack foul for gordon… why ej why??

  • HoosierSmitty

How was that a blocking foul?

  • bleedingk crimson

This is the start that we want to have.
    bc

  • http://www.insidethehall.com Alex

Seems like Gordon is forcing some shots right now. Need to get D.J. some looks.

  • HoosierSmitty

Gordon really seems to struggle with shooting off the dribble inside the 3 point line.

  • HoosierSmitty

They should just have a college major called “NBA” ….general studies…come on DJ. I love ya…but…

  • HoosierSmitty

    I hate Billy Packer…shut up

  • peaychris

kinda like how 80% of dukes players are “sociology”majors?!?!?!

  • http://www.insidethehall.com Alex

Come on EJ, gotta quit forcing it.

  • HoosierSmitty

I agree, but at least it'll still be a nice RPI booster….UCONN is up in the Top 50….

  • SanDiegoIUfan

Yeah I said the exact same thing when he was on the foul line and they showed that. They should just have “basketball”.

  • SanDiegoIUfan

Would like to see us pass the ball a couple more times on offense. Use that shot clock!

  • HoosierSmitty

We have no offensive fluidity…surprise surprise…what's new

  • SanDiegoIUfan

Oh, and I have a man crush on DJ White :)

  • HoosierSmitty

Even after all these missed jumpers?

  • http://www.insidethehall.com Alex

    Terrible shot selection.

  • HoosierSmitty

How many freaking layups and open looks can we miss?

  • peaychris

IUs looks like a 7th grade girls team missing everything!!!

  • SanDiegoIUfan

Oh come on De…2 layups in a row?

  • ALH_00

going to need to score more consistently. Defensive effort is really good right now though.

  • peaychris

25%shooting. and still can get out of the half ahead

  • HoosierSmitty

Can we? We look so awful, I don't know.

  • peaychris

i think if we move a little more in transition and drive it to the basket it will help.

  • ALH_00

Not awful…just awful shooting…we're at home and it will get better.

  • HoosierSmitty

Holy Cow…nice work by the crowd…lol

  • http://www.insidethehall.com Alex

The lack of another big man besides DJ is killing us. We're one and out on every possession and they're owning the glass.

  • SanDiegoIUfan

Wow we are getting killed out there. Lucky to be down only 5. I liked that crowd fake coundown that was awesome!

  • HoosierSmitty

That was pathetic…and we're only down by 5….I don't know whether to cry and let the small glimmer of hope give me strength to make it through the rest of this game.

    We not only missed jumpers…AT HOME…we blew easy layups….DeAndre, EJ, DJ….good lord…

And Bassett's up to his old tricks of getting in trouble by jumping in the air with no idea what he's going to do…DJ looks like he's TOO pumped up to shoot a mid range jumper and EJ looks like he's out-of-control….unbelievable

There's no offensive movement, there's not defensive teamwork…we're ONCE AGAIN letting teams screen us to death and we either don't switch fast enough or don't fight over the screens….I'm sick to my stomach.

Some timely threes have kept it close, other than that, this is a D- first half.

  • Kelin

Two words for Deandre and Mike White

    Mikan Drill

  • http://www.insidethehall.com Alex

Enough of the UConn cheerleader, Megan Martz is back.

  • HoosierSmitty

We scored nine points (all threes) in the first 3 minutes of the game. So after that….15 points in 17 minutes…..are you serious….I can't say enough negative things right now…I need to just shut up…but I'm fuming right now…this is not what I was expecting to see this afternoon…

  • HoosierSmitty

Turn off the TV…this game's over….We made no halftime adjustments…

(nice no call on the goal tend)

  • peaychris

i think we just need to run them and run them some more. their big cant move and they are already down 2 players. we have depth, just run it !

  • http://www.insidethehall.com Alex

Not a bad idea at all. However, we still need to man up on the boards.

  • HoosierSmitty

and guard somebody and box out, and get loose balls and hit shots and …. be thankful this is a non conference game…

  • steve

If we have learned one thing here today it is the fact that KS cannot coach. I dont give a S#@# what anyone says. If you have a player like Gordon and you are not setting screens you are a moron. This team is pathetic on offense. If I am a coach that recruits DeAndre Thomas and Jordan Crawford I need my head examined!!

  • peaychris

i hate to say it but i think this would be a nice time to see crawford try and score the ball. ej has been taken out of the game

  • HoosierSmitty

At least I'll have a good reason to drink tonight (or right now)
